I didn't see the fight and theres not much about it on here due to the Haye-Valuev fight so could anyone let me know how the fight went please? I know Dawson won by decision but was it close? Was Johnson able to pressure him like in their first fight or did he look old?

    Cheers.

It was a shutout. Johnson looked his age in that fight. I think the hourglass finally ran out.

Johnson tried but Dawson was always one step ahead,he was too fast and too slick for the old veteran.

A clear win by Dawson who should be in the pound for pound list instead of guys like Donaire and Caballero.

It wasn't the most exciting fight to watch, i gave Johnson 1 round and that was being generous.

Dawsons defense was solid, his jab was accurate and he countered with some good left hands all night.

Much more one sided than their first encounter, even though the judges scorecards didn't show that it was a clear UD for Dawson.

Yep. I feared Johnson's last hurrah would be the first fight with Dawson which I thought he won. It was like when James Toney lost the first decision against Samuel Peter and then couldn't do it again the second time. The opponents adjusted and Johnson and Toney were unable to accommdate for that at their age.

    Thanks guys.

    Good shout mate.

He has the skills and a good resume.

I think the only thing that holds him back in some people's eye's is the level of his opponents when he fought them. A lot of people think Johnson won their first fight and by the sounds of it he looked well past it in the fight last night. Tarver looked well past it in both fights and people claim Adamek looked so bad in their fight because he was weight drained.

It's a shame really because even if there may be an element of truth to some of them, they are still good wins to have.

Any news on who Dawson may fight next?

Maybe the winner of Hopkins Jones II ?

I'd like to see him fight either Cloud or Pascal personally, not sure it will happen though.

Dawson looked awesome. Great movement, speed, workrate and defense. He would destroy anyone in the Super 6 and anyone at 175 (Hopkins is too old to deal with the workrate).

I gave Dawson 8 rounds and Johnson 4. The HBO crew were riding Dawson hard which is why people think it was a shutout but it was pretty competitive. Neither fighter was really hurt and neither fighter was landing clean punches consistantly. Alot of punches landing on gloves or deflected. Two judges had it 115-113 and one judge 117-110 so that gives you an idea how off the mark those who had it a shutout are. Sometimes i wish i could watch the fight with the sound on but the commentary, that was realy terrible.

As for the fight it was a decent scrap.

I didn't see the awesomeness in Dawson that people here are talking about. He just looked OK. He didn't look like a top10 p4p fighter and I wouldn't make him a shoe-in to win the super6 at all.

I turned the sound off after 3 rounds, the commentators were pissing me off.

I'm not a fan of Dawson but i had him winning a clear UD last night.

Johnson did nothing. And I was rooting for him the whole fight.

I was disappointed to hear Johnson was outboxed so soundly. I guess brood3 is right, the hourglasses has finally run empty.

100% correct!!! Dawson did well, I had it 8-4, but this theory that he should be in the P4P top 10 is ridiculous!!!

Decent scrap, but I guess there's not really much left for Johnson anymore.

    I agree.

Donaire is very skilled but apart from Darchinyan there isn't a hell of a lot of good names on his resume. His post Darch resume is ok. Mthanlane, Maldonado, Martinez and Conception are decent but Dawson has foght better.

Caballero has some quality names on his resume to but i think he needs to beat some more top names to be considered top 10 p4p.
