I'm one of those in the minority who scored for Valuev, but Haye was clearly coming on at the end, and if the CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS had not been taken away from us, we might have had a definitive winner in this fight, with Valuev having gotten knocked out in the 13, 14th, or 15th round.

It is such a shame that the tv moguls and their allies in the sanctioning bodies stole them from us in the 80s. A true tragedy for the sport. So many controversial fights would have had clear endings!

I don't think a 15 round fight would have mattered when you have one fighter who is running and not willing to engage.

Perhaps. But my point is that Haye seemed to become more emboldened in the 12th and might have pressed the action in the 13th once he had Valuev hurt.

The CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS allow for more conclusive results to occur. I don't think it's an accident that, once they were eliminated, the number of controversial decisions appears to have increased.

Agreed Zak. But we're not going to win this fight, and maybe we shouldn't. I've yet to read or be convinced by an article that lays out point by point and with hard facts how many lives have been saved by doing away with the championship rounds, but I also know that watching the Thrilla almost makes me sick.

We're never going to get fifteen rounds back. I hope maybe one day we get a thirteenth, that would be good enough.

A boxer is still going to go for it in the last round, whether the last round is the 12th or 15th. Had it been a 15 round fight, the 12th, 13th and 14th would have been similar to the other 11 rounds and the final round, the 15th, would have been like last nights 12th.

I do want 15 round fights back though.

By the way, Haye proved his chin isn't "glass". I'm glad that looking around the forum, so many people are now coming round to that fact. You guys were flat out wrong.

there is no way in hell Haye was gonna knock out Valuev, even if the fight went 100 rounds. He just doesn't have it in him.

Sorry, but this fight did not "prove" anything about that. Neither will the Ruiz fight. He and Valuev are mediocre titlists, with limited skills, who don't punch particularly hard.

Let's see how Haye does against the Klits, or guys like Tua, Peter or Arreola, before we start proclaiming his chin rock solid!!!

Really? Then why did Haye run and punch off his back foot the whole fight? Haye ran BECAUSE he has a Glass Jaw. Simple as that.

A 47 year old Holyfield did not even fight Valuev like that. What a disgrace that fight last night was.

I wouldn't have wanted to watch 3 more rounds of that crap.

I think 15 rounds is a good distance, but when fights are crap like last night's they should call it off after 8 rounds and ban both fighters from championship boxing.

It proves he has a good enough chin to take a clean punch from a 300lb man. Like I've said before, it isn't strong enough to take either Klitschko's best punch, but it is strong enough that he can get in a fight and not be knocked out cold.

The strongest basis for his chin being weak is the Mock fight when he was truly hurt. Mormeck didn't hurt him, Macca didn't, Fragoneni didn't, Barrett didn't and neither did anyone else. Add Valuev, who many thought would stop him, to that list.

Nice to see you reverting to your old "wait until he faces a puncher" line. Typical from you.
