Another three rounds of Haye-VCaluev. I thought his fights were boring. Imagine John Ruiz fighting 15 rounds. Snooze-e-snooze.:-((

Even in a crappy fight, that's still nine more minutes for something definitive to happen.

We can't treat a fight like a line graph. Weird things can and do happen.

He "ran" because it was the best way to win the fight.

His chin isn't "glass" because he took clean punches off a 300lb man you said would "knock him the **** out" without flinching.

You need to learn a thing about boxing. Clueless.

What did I say that was wrong? Haye ran the whole damn fight and was scared to engage. It was a dreadful boring fight.

An ancient Holyfield put up a better fight than Haye did. So did Chagaev, Ruiz, and Larry Donald.

Haye was a disgrace with the running. There were 4 rounds where Haye did not even throw 10 total punches. That is awful.

Well, of course, that's impossible to tell. But I think a case could be made from looking at developments in the 12th to suggest that if Haye had a few more rounds to work with, he might have gotten him out of there.

Of course, the question of whether he would have gone for it in the 12th in the first place if it were a 15 rounder is a legitimate one. Ultimately, we'll never know - but at least with the championship rounds in place, we would have had a better shot at it.

And there are other fights that have ended controversially that might have been more conclusively decided had the tv networks not forced the removal of the championship rounds to force fights into their one-hour time slots!

Yeah but Rico, you were horribly wrong as you nearly always are. You know jack **** about boxing and you claim to have watched it for so many years which is even more worrying.

Hey guys - I made a new thread for the Haye chin debate!

    www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=182230

This one's for the issue of whether Haye would have knocked Valuev out if there were Championship rounds.

What do you guys think of that?? Would Haye have got him if those TV execs hadn't STOLEN our championship rounds in the 80s?????

Well, you are probably right, but I think it is important for boxing fans to stand up and point out how the elimination of the CHAMPIONSHIP ROUNDS robs us as fans and the fighters, of the possibility for fights to be decided conclusively, both by KO or decision.

I think that the television-driven demise of the Championship Rounds is one reason why boxing had declined in popularity - not only because of its dilution of the sport, but because it makes these controversial decisions more numerous.

Dude, yes he could. Haye was overly cautious, he wasn't sure he could hurt Valuev or more like, how much would it take to hurt him. With the knowledge that he can definitely hurt him and with one punch, he could have done more. There wasn't enough time, fight was over.

He caught him but didnt follow up and Valuev regained his offensive stance and Haye regained his defensive running stance. Could have happened in the 15h round if we had 15 rounds then what would you say we need 18 round fights?
