so Haye says "I broke my hand in the early rounds and couldnt use it" ...RIGHT?

then explain round 12 to me.... I guess Haye has magical healing powers to be able to throw those hard shots in round 12:huh

 

Just ignore the Haye groupies, they'll believe everything he says.

 

The same way Hopkins was able to dig down and use that arm in the rematch with Echols, some fighters can suck it up for a full round and give a go, sometimes when the injury is that bad they have to lay off a bit and find another way to win...

CHEF: Not all fighters quit or stop fighting when they get injured, I know your use to this being around Vitali Klitschko but some actually do fight on some find other ways to pull out the win.....:hi:

 

You do when the opponent landed 5 punches in return for the whole night.

Scoring criteria:

Clean punching: Valuev literally landed so infrequently on Haye you can practically recollect the round and the time it occured. Haye landed almost every time he threw. EVERY punch he threw hit Valuev somewhere, all but one or two of his body shots connected successfully, and most of his headshots landed.

Clean punching goes to Haye.

Effective aggression: Valuev plodded forwards pushing out jabs and one twos at the air. He was causing no damage and was not landing anything he threw. David was not AS agressive, but he did throw, he landed (as above).

Aggression goes to Valuev, but thats not one of the marking criteria. AFFECTIVE aggression is: David takes this one.

Ring generalship: Valuev made pathetic attempts at feints (that didnt work), he made no attempt to mix up his arsenal or adapt/change his plans, and he didnt dictate the pace or control the fight in any way. I will concede that David hardly played an active role in the latter part, but he was fightign at a pace that was most comfortable for him, which was very evident. David used the ring and ropes well, had a gameplan which he was obviously executing, was making good use of angles, and was making the best out of his height/weight disadvantage.

Again, Haye takes this one.

Defence: ie. avoiding punishment. Although they were rather infrequent, Valuev was taking hard shots relatively flish, to both body and head. Conversely Valuev could barely even get near Haye, he landed so few punches on Haye it's remarkable. Valuev DID however make up for his lack of speed with a rather tight defence, however Haye did penetrate this with his speed, and round 12 clearly shos that Haye COULD get through it.

If you want to criticise Haye for keeping his hands low and backpedalling, may I remind you that he was AVOIDING PUNISHMENT, which he was doing nearly perfectly. Whether or not you agree with his technique to accomplish this, he was still doing so.

So, two different styles, but Haye was more effective and efficient.


I honestly think when you lay out the criteria like that you CANNOT give this fight to Valuev. Sue, you can say it was an ugly fight, a boring fight, call Haye whatever you want, but when you look at these critera and look at the fight in relative terms, Haye certainly was the better man on the night and everything went the way HE wanted.

OK, lets say he threw half that then which is 400. That is still two and a half times more than Haye threw.

There were 4 rounds that Haye did not throw more than 10 punches. That is pitiful and no excuse for that.

 

Five of Thirteen? :zzz ... oh I'm sorry, that just put me to sleep just reading about it. I'm awake now.

 

Wlad threw 3 times as many punches against Iggy as Haye threw. Valuev was also not leaning back almost out of the ring he was coming forward wanting to fight while Haye back peddled and ran the whole damn fight.

Not even close to the same thing.

 

I'm not giving the fight to Valuev. What I'm saying is that what Haye did is not enough to take a man's belt, so Valuev keeps it.

 

its not like Valuev throws much himself, he stood there doing nothing with Holyfield.. Haye won the fight be happy, the klitschkos might get to unify.

 

Valuev was coming forward the whole damn fight Haye was running the whole damn fight. It was awful. Valuev wanted to fight Haye wanted to make it a track meet.

and I am around Wlad who fought with a torn beicept against Chagaev. I dont know what that has to do with Haye:huh....

all im saying is while Haye might have hurt the hand... "I broke it" as an a reson for running and throwing so few punches is an excuse IMO and nothing more.

TO ME: Haye threw so little due to his running. while the movement was the right defensive move to keep Valuev turning and keeping him from getting set to throw, Haye moved so much he couldnt really set himself. To me the offensive game plan was more about making Valuev miss then punching Valuev himself.... Booth even mentioned it in the corner between rounds.... "Make him miss...keep making him miss".

just not very impressed with the overall performance

 

well it was probably a better fight to watch than Wlads fight with Sultan, thats for damn sure....
