Stupid question...how do you know if you're getting your ass beat during sparring?

I find that sometimes, when I THINK i'm getting my ass beat sparring, my trainer comes back and says "Wonderful, man! Very good!" and other people also seem to think I'm doing well. Does it just seem different when you're taking shots?

What is your criteria when you know you've gotten a straight whoopin' in sparring? :smoke

could be any number of things. who's more tired, more beat physically, cut, bloodier, more swollen, etc etc etc. but when it happens, you know.

I'm with you on this one. I always feel like I'm losing all my fights until I see the videos. Even in the ones I lose I thought I was doing worse than I was.

I think it's because if we get hit even once our brains punch in a "not good!" ticket.

Yea, I definitley agree with this. I lot of the time when i'm sparring I don't always feel the punch land so don't think i'm catching them but i'm definitley feeling the ones coming my way! I always seems to look better on film than i than what i think i'm doing in the ring

I usually tell by the people who are watching reactions. f they go "ooohhh" then I know I've landed/received a good shot

If you feel like you're losing.. then you're losing.

Your own version of events may not correspond with reality, as you remember the punches you receive better than the ones you give.

Complete opposite with me. When i spar i have a good to very good chin and average skills. The shots im taking dont bother me one bit and as i tend to be moving forward i feel that its me who's winning. Only afterwards do i see on tape that im taking too many shots, and the ones i land arent as effective as i thought! :L

i need to get a bit of a taste of blood to get the killer instinct going. it pisses me off enough to want to hunker down and fight.
