Yes but he could've avoided that jab....(in the first round)...His nose is busted once again. The guy is very fast...right now his reflexes are saving him imo. I see what you mean , the unorthodox style , weird angles can also be an advantage but it's still too risky.
Why do people have to whine about everything, he hasn't lost in 9 years guys, what makes you guys think you know what is better for him then he does? What makes you guys think the next guy is gonna beat him? Its always the next guy with you people and guess what......... it never happens. I will not bet against Fedor until he retires he has proven many times over that he is a bad mother****er that can beat everybodys ass and it still isn't good enough, you guys amaze me.
It was a freakin jab he was hit while throwing a punch himself.... much better to be hit by a jab than a haymaker ... Jabs are more likely to land because they are only quick, straight punches
Yo man, jabs are easy to dodge, Fedor should be bobbing out of that **** like nothing. His stand up is horrible, he can't even dodge a jab.
if it waz a huge hole in hiz style then explain to me why he has connected so many great shotz on hiz opponentz are you sure you just dont like his style of striking because you feel he should throw hiz punches in the text book style you feel would work best someone will finally be able to take care of this problem ? HUGE PROBLEM ? they will be able to take care of this problem after his reflexes go ? wouldnt that be true for any top fighter no mater how he threw hiz punchez ? im getting the feeling this is your huge problem not fedorz
I can't believe all the idiots here saying his striking is terrible. Although I don't blame them since it's a boxing forum and here people will assume proper boxing form and stance is actually what is optimal when striking with the hands, that and practically nobody would show them otherwise in a U.S gym. Fedor is a very proficient boxer as well and if he wanted to box and attack like a boxer he very well could, but that would actually get him knocked out. Boxing is a very limited sport and even limited in terms of what it allows in respect to using ones hands as well! Fedor is using elements of combat\military sambo and Slovyano-gorsokoya fighting systems in his arsenal. These fighting systems utilize a lot of flailing, whip like motions which can end in fist strikes, slaps and provide very illusive angles using a movement called "Maetnik" which puts the strikers head and better part of the upper body out of the danger zone when throwing such punch. These cannot be implemented in boxing due to the large gloves and the tendency of these shots to hit the back of the head. If you think he would be in less danger and or less exposed by standing there with his hands under/over his chin throwing sharp and straight left, right shots you my friend know **** all about fighting and the real world. In a real fight with no gloves you CANNOT keep your hands too high and over your face and chin like in boxing. No big puffy gloves to protect means any kinetic energy goes right through your hands and you destroy your face with your own knuckles. There's so much more to hand strikes that even guys like Tyson and Foreman would get beat up in a fist fight (No legs and grappling) against good Sambo fighters.
I agree Fedor didnt get hit all that much during the fight. Fedor also has a Sambo punching technique called the casting punch. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JISgLclfX3c[/ame]
I'm sorry but those GIFs highlight how poor his stand up can be. Chin in the air, swinging wildly and completely off balance.
Wow he got hit with a JAB early in the fight :rofl:rofl Are you friggin serious??? And who cares if he relies on his reflexes, of course he does! So does BJ Penn, GSP, Anderson Silva, Floyd Mayweather, Cotto, Mosley, Roy JOnes did, Hamed did, all great strikers NEED great reflexes. Great discovery and ground breaking analysis here.
MMA is not boxing the stance has to be different you cannot sit there and use a jab consitantly. Most seem to set up the overhand right. Fedor seems to be able to exploit a weakness in people his brain is his best attribute
Whether Fedor slipped a few punches from AA isn't really the point; the fact is he was being conclusively beaten standing. Would anybody argue that AA was not clearly getting the better of him standing?
Guys, there is a reason fighters train Muay Thai and boxing, and don't hire somebodys old gym coach from Russia to teach them how to fight in snow boots.
Garbage style overall which Fedor has had success with because of his handspeed & accuracy. He's struggling more & more against better & more "orthadox" punchers, plus Fedor doesn't even mix in kicks. Still, his record doesn't lie.
