Amazed at the response to Haye's win on Saturday, everybody has been talking about it at uni and the fight did huge PPV buys. He's on the front of the Daily Mirror today and is well known to the general public due to his awesome promotional work. He's got the looks and charisma to be an absolute star.

And of course, he's a Heavyweight champion of the world from Britain!:D

I know he was alread undisputed cruiserweight champion, but for me Saturday night was his "Tszyu moment", beating the biggest HW champ ever.

I know we are unlikely to see somebody be as popular as Hatton in the forseeable future, but could Haye go on to receive the acclaim and recognisability from the general public to a similar degree that Ricky did?

  2. I was unsure at first, but after the buys this appears to have gotten, I think Haye-Klitschko could surpass Hatton.

    Made up for him.

they need to inform the public of who klit and wlad are. they need to stereotypes these big russian giants who haye has come to slay. as pac ebcame the mexican assassin, haye must become the giant russian slayer.

wlad v povetkin and vitali v johnson must be on sky. haye must destroy ruiz. they must hype the fights now.

these fights could definitely surpass hatton - mayweather.

heavyweight is heavyweight. the undisputed boxer is considered the best boxer in the world. p4p title is just opinions flying around.

Well...........they're Ukranian but I know what you mean.

Look for Sky to totally avoid how **** Ruiz can look and his starching at Tua and make him out to be 'an awkward and AVOIDED fighter'.

Kinda' true, but hope the casuals don't try telling me much about Ruiz.

do not discredit the Mayweather factor in the Hatton PPV success.

Haye will only reach Hatton status when he fights a name like Mayweather, and there are none in the division or coming through.

  6. As has been mentioned, I think if they're going to appeal to the general public in the same way they did with Valuev, they're going to have to put a spin on it, make sure everyone is aware that there's two of them, and that they're considered the very best, 'true giants' of the sport.

Haye did a great job of promoting, I've no doubt he could do it again for the Klits; This Morning, Loose Women, O'Grady again, the ****ing lot.

A 24/7 could make him a star if done correctly.

Call the PPV 'Double Trouble: Part One'. ;)

if he beats any of kilitskos he will be far bigger than hatton and acheived far more...the two big brothers are more known over here now than mayweather was before he fought hatton hands down...If anything dont discredit the hatton factor in that mayweather fight :good

No chance. The Hatton vs Mayweather fight had so many + factors.

Mayweather number 1 P4P, Both Undefeated, Mayweather "mouthy" people wanted Hatton to shut him up.

You forget the heavyeight division is creme de le creme, evryone takes notice of this weight...also although starting to get some respect the brothers are generally hated worldwide for how boring they have made the HW division,if Haye come in and shook it all up by beating 1 of them he would be far bigger...im not saying it would out sell hatton on PPV(not saying it wouldnt either)but if he beat 1 of them he would definatly be regarded higher than hatton ever was/is.

Can't believe has been getting so much coverage. Every news broadcast I've seen on the BBC recently. Even Gordon Brown issued a statement about it.

Haye has the potential to become bigger than hatton.

Only real boxing fans understood the significance of the mayweather fights, and its not about the real boxing fans when youre looking to become a star.

Haye has the charisma which is crucial.

I dont think so, Hatton is way heavier:lol: And 99% of people he fought where over the hill, nay make that 100%, I cant think of any top guy he took on in their prime! Apart from Pac-man and Mayweather, and guess what, he got smoked:hat Sorru Hatton over-rated much the same way FatNaz was

This is a feature on the front page of the BBC News website today, not the BBC Sport website but the actual news site. It gives a good indication of how the general public might view this fight.

They'll be built up as Ivan Drago no doubt.

The Rocky theme will sell to the casuals.

I believe achievement wise Haye has already surpassed Hatton.

Haye appeals to everyone especially boxing fans whereas Hatton appealed more to the moronic football fans who followed him everywhere.
