Haye Valuev was Boring or Was it?

I watched it with a friend who's not a hardcore boxing fan and he was surprised at how **** the giant Russian was. He was expecting to see some ripped, muscular, vicious 7-foot monster, not just some big sleepy giant shuffling across the ring.

I only saw some of it on youtube. Valuev throws slow arm punches. And his foot speed is non-existent. He seems like a likeable enough guy, so I'm glad he didn't fight a Klitschko, because he would get knocked out.

 

I quite like defensive performances so i enjoyed it. The 12th definately added a nice cherry on top

 

It was a boring fight, and there's no way around that. It was somewhat SUSPENSEFUL, since Valuev is so big and Haye's chin is so poor, and since it was a very close fight with a lot of difficult rounds to score, but that shouldn't be confused for excitement.

 

it was only boring because the Hayemaker damaged his hand in rd 2. If that didnt happen he prob would have knocked the Beast from the East out!

Come on people, it had nothing to do with the supposed broken hand.

It was boring because of the clash styles. We knew this from the beginning, and none of us ever expected a fight of the year type matchup. Haye did what was necessary to win the fight, and was never really looking for the knockout (although the incident at the end was a nice surprise).

The broken hand excuse was simply used to justify his choice of using safety first in and out tactics. Of course there's no reason to be ashamed of such tactics, he executed it very well. Just don't lie to us about it.

I agree about the hand i smell bullsh1t in there too ,But u cant say "we knew the fight gonna be boring from the beggining" , cuz i have seen plenty of Haye will ktfo , smasch or destroy valuev kind of threads before the fight and honestly these ppl didnt seem to think it'll be as horrible as it was.

And btw its not like every valuev fight is that boring , the last guy who scored "md" on valuev did it in 10x times better style. And that fight was pretty exciting for a hw fight.

I absolutely love defensive performances, but this was a shitfest. Haye ran around the ring scared to death of Valuev for 11 rounds.

 

Exactly, there was tons of suspense before and during the fight. The anticipation of the possibility of Haye clocking Valuev and hurting him or Valuev landing flush on Haye's chin. That air of unknown and that anticipation made for a much more dramatic fight than the uneventfullness. Couldn't agree anymore with your post.
