    ExplosiveTinMan.

How the hell was Ronaldo at Man Utd better than Maradona?

Ronaldo has never dominated a World cup or won a World cup.

At international level he ain't even on the same planet as Maradona.

I think the best way to beat Bowe is good footwork, a good reach and combinations. That was the key for Golota, who could really move well back in the day. Ali doesn't have Golota's power, but he has ample handspeed and substance between his two ears. He was also stronger than Holyfield and had a much longer reach (about 6 inches longer than Evander).

Bowe would do well, given his great jab and left hook, but I think he'd be a bit too straight-up and vulnerable to Ali's punches. Still, Bowe was a warrior and would be a tough fight for anyone who couldn't get him out of there.

I'd pick a 1972 Ali by clear decision.

Lewis would be a tough opponent for Ali. I can't see any of the Klitschkos being, though. Too slow.

I know it's tempting to look at past eras with rose tinted glasses, but 70's heavyweights,as a group, between 1970-75 WERE the best the division has seen. Boxing is a more complicated subject to assess than sprinting. Usain Bolt breaks a 100 metres record, and that is that ! With boxing you have to look at many things. Styles, conditioning etc.

Mmm not sure about that, but making the observation that through time athletes are getting stronger, bigger, quicker, more explosive etc. I'm sure Lewis would have spanked Frazer and Foreman, Frazer was a poor mans Tyson I reckon, and Foreman was as basic as you like, I reckon Foreman couldnt throw a decent punch until he came back from retirement, must have been watching other boxers on the telly:good

Prime Foreman was more savvy than he was given credit for. Ali said that nobody cut off the ring on him as well as George did.

Ali from 1974 would have trouble with Bowe from 1992, but if it was to regain the championship (like v.Foreman in Zaire), Ali would have found a way to win.

It a non-title fight or a title defence Ali wouldn't have been quite as well motivated, and I think the 1992 Bowe might well beat him.
Fighters who were Ali's size or bigger who could box a bit, and came to fight, gave him hell.

Mmm, maybe, but in the Rumble in the Jungle Ali was awful, really awful, Foreman just punched himself out, simple as that, if they had fought in less humid conditiones Ali would have been stopped for sure.

In fact a prime Tyson would have destroyed Ali I.M.O.

Prime for prime, Ali would have killed Tyson.

Tyson looked ordinary against guys who moved well and tied him up on the inside. If Ali was great at anything it was moving and tying his men up.
