Wlad by KO Haye may be fast, but that's not enough to get past Wlad's pretty accurate jab. Neither Wlad nor Vitali can be compared with an old, slow as a snail Valuev who in addition hits like a butterfly. Haye only has a small puncher's chance against Wlad. Vitali would murder him, no chance at all for Haye. Wlad and Vitali have the best jabs, very accurate and very powerful. Haye is too small to get past the jab. He hasn't the reach, the chin and the overall durability which is needed to win against either of the brothers.
And that's why you have to go back almost two decades, because this kind of upset happens so rarely that it is hardly an argument for Haye. Sure, anything can happen and a good puncher always has a puncher's chance, but in 90%+ of all cases, the overall better fighter wins a fight. Haye has great talent but isn't really polished. The younger version of Wlad was prone to make mistakes and that's why he lost to Purrity and Sanders. Through trial and error and many fights against different styles, he became a well - tuned fighting machine. Haye has only 24 pro fights at age 29, not much willingness to get polished in the ring, he wants the big fights right away and it shows. Since declaring his assault on the HW division and his claim to bring excitement back, he had an OK fight against Barrett, he certainly looked sloppy and overexcited against and overmatched opponent. His performance against Valuev was hardly more impressive than what Chagaev, Donald or Holyfield showed against Valuev. He seemed overly concerned with what could go wrong. If he gets in the ring with Wlad, he will have to deal with the best puncher, the best jab, the best at controlling range he has faced in his career. The physical tools to beat Wlad are one thing and Haye may have those, but putting it all together when those ramrod jabs begin to land or when he realizes how difficult it is to land clean on Wlad is another story. When Haye was bigger, the better puncher and overall superior, he was able to walk through some fire and KO his opponents at cruiser. Can he turn a fight around when he is hurt, loses 4 - 5 rounds in a row, gets frustrated because he doesn't land as well as he wanted to?
People seem to be forgetting just how bad Wlad is. He's the second best fighter in a terrible division. I say Haye has a great chance.
Haye is very very fast an an excpetional counterpuncher. Wlad is nice and upright....Haye KO. I cant see David beating Vitali though...Vitali gives any heavy from any era a tough night
haye is dangerous for wladimir, no doubt. i'd like to see wlad jabbing and moving until he gets his first opportunity, then go all out like he used to and pummel haye against the ropes or in the corner. there is no way david haye will stand up to that! it could be a great fight though, there is definitely a small chance haye could hit him with the type of shot he hit valuev with, and then who knows what will happen? wlad could lose this fight if haye swarms him from the start, or wlad isn't aggressive enough to put him away when he gets the chance its probably hypothetical anyway. it looks like vitali-haye is more likely atm
You said " ony a small puncher's chance. I agree because Wlad's defense is much better than Valuev's who is just a sitting duck. Connecting on Wlad is a difficult task. I want to add another thing: Haye fights with his left hand low because he has confidence in his reflexes. No way, he gets away with that against Wlad who is muck quicker than Valuev. I favour Wlad by KO,
