No chance buddy, not in a million years. Ali was well over-rated, the old saying applies, if you keep on telling everyone your the greatest then folk must believe you. Ali had tons of problems from Frazer, and Frazer dont hit anywhere near as hard as Tyson, if Frazer could land at will then Tyson would have beheaded your man
I'm not saying Ali is the greatest. I'm not saying Ali is not over-rated. But he sure as hell is greater than Tyson. Frazier was better than Tyson. Tyson's the most over-rated heavyweight in history, (apart from Lennox Lewis on this site, at least). Buster Douglas beat the **** out of Tyson.
Tyson may have looked ordinary against movers to start with, but once he figured them out it was all over. Tyson would have been too fast for Ali to do all his ropeadope patter with, Prime Tyson punches holes in Ali all day long, no question.
I loved Bokaj's passive assertations in this topic. I did not love this post. I don't think less humid conditions would have done it for Foreman, and I'm one of the few Foreman marks on the board. When I watch the whole fight, Ali seems in control from the second round onward, though still walking a tight (loose?) rope, laying back against such a dangerous puncher. He fought a great fight, and could have done what he did for seven more rounds if that's what it took. What character.
I disagree. Tyson had trouble with Tony Tucker for****ssakes ! And Ali could move better than Tucker even if he was wearing lead boots. The only decent mover Tyson looked good against was Tyrell Biggs, who quit dancing after 2 minutes or 3 after he'd tasted a body shot or two. Ali could take body shots, like you cant believe. It's ridiculous to say Tyson beats Ali up.
Ali would have to use his footwork in this fight because I can't see him staying in the pocket and out jabbing Bowe and he won't fight on the inside like Holy did against Bowe.
Well, at least in this match-up Bowe WAS AGAIN facing a non-puncher. He left those for Lennox to handle...as history shows. Ali would eke-out a close, possibly split decision with his mobility and foot speed making the difference. :hey
Hey man... I already admitted I went a 'tad' over board with that and ur man excepted my apology. Anyway it's much worse tellin somone to **** off to general than to **** off and die.:yep
What the **** u talking bout??? I never said that. Please show me where I said that. This is a boxing forum so u could at least add something about boxing in ur quote.
I thought Ali looked GREAT at age 32 in 1974 while fighting at 214 to 216 pounds against "Frazier & Foreman." By 1975, Ali popped up over 220 pounds and was never really the same fleet-footed ring general......... His fights with "Wepner & Lyle" was a clear indication of his skills and LEG speed slipping........ But Ali still had fast hands all the way up to the fight with Leon Stinks in Sept. of '78........... In my view of the world, I think Ali's '77 title fight with Ernesto Shavers was Ali's LAST real great showing in the ring........... The two fights with Leon Stinks in 1978 sucked ass, even if history was being made.......... MR.BILL:hey:good:scaredas:
He had trouble with Tucker? Why because he couldnt knock him out? Tucker didnt bank too many rounds my friend. Im not saying Tyson beats Ali, but has Ali ever faced a fighter with the speed and power of Tyson? Mover doesnt mean **** if youre not landing, and I doubt Ali would be able to hold Tyson at range for 12 rounds, or have the size of a 6'5" Tony Tucker to hold on either. Tyson using his speed was very good at making guys stand and fight or hold. Holmes even though old did a pretty decent job for three rounds:yep, but I dont see any fighter being able to stick and move for 12 against Tyson at his best.
Tucker went into survival mode after round 5 against Tyson on HBO in 1987........ Hurt hand or not, Tucker just wanted to go 12............ Tyson won on my card by 10 rds to 2 after all 12 rds were up........... Tucker LOST badly........... MR.BILL
