Your ****ing high if you think beating a weight drained De La Hoya and a Hatton with no gameplan makes Pac anywhere near to Duran's status. Duran was arguably the greatest lightweight of all time before moving up (what would now be 2 weightclasses) and ending Leonard's unbeaten record, then going on to destroy the heavily favoured Davey Moore and Iran Barkley. Pac has never ended a greats unbeaten record, and has never won through so convincingly with the type of adversity Duran had. If Pac does beat Cotto this weekend it puts him much closer, but for now, Duran by a country mile!!

Duran at the moment. Duran was a BEAST....so is PAC but I think PAC has some ground to move in order to be considered BETTER than Duran. Very big shoes to fill.

Right now I think that Pacquiao has better achievements. As of who is the better fighter, I can't really decide both are great and the only way for us to know is if we can have them fight each other but we can't.

Duran is clearly the better of the two and by a good margin.

However, Pac is still a work in progress.

If he beats Cotto, and were to somehow beat Mayweather and Mosley, and continue to be competitive with one or two BIG wins over the next five years or so, he could surpass the hands of stone.

No disrespect to Manny, but hands down, Roberto Duran is the greater of the two.

I admit Duran is great but what makes him top 10 ATG? His lightweight competition? Because after he moved up he beat Ray yet did not knock him out, and then Ray beat him easily in the rematch. Then Duran lost to Benitez,Hearns and Hagler. He did win belts but against Moore and Barkley, who were not great fighters at all-Moore had 11 fights. I am not sure he is much better than Pacman was and if you look at opposition and wins, Pacman might have better wins vs. greater fighters. Duran fought greater fighters then Pacman ever did. Pacman does not have the level of Leonard,Hearns, and Hagler on his resume, but he did win when he fought better guys. Look at it. Duran beat two good fighters at lightweight, but not great guys in Buchanan and Dejesus. He was dominant, but no one can say a guy like Lampkin makes Duran great. Then Duran lost to Leonard,Hearns,Benitez and Hagler. Where is the top 10 all time coming from? Beating Leonard? Ray at the time in 1980 was only a champ for the first time for 6 months. Yeah he won the gold medal, but he was inexperienced by his own account. Duran beat the great Leonard, but he did not beat Ray when Ray was fully prime and experience. No matter what. When Ray got experience, he beat Duran easily the last two times. Easily. If Duran really was better than Ray he would have beaten him again. Duran gets credit for being greater than he is. Frustrating since I am not sure why. As for the first Leonard fight,Duran played mental games and Ray fought his fight, but then Ray was not stopped and he beat Duran easily in the rematch. Ray said after, I fought him at his own game and he couldn't knock me out. All I had to do was fight my fight and I win easily and he did. How is Duran top 10 all time? By doing what? Having an extended career? All the legends do, but he lost many fights in that time. His record against greats is not good enough to warrant him top 10 ATG ever, and you can say he was older when he fought them, well then his record at lightweight does not warrant it either. So what warrants it? I have been saying this for years. What warrants Duran being top 10 ATG?

    A truly dreadful post.

    Where to begin....?

To save me some time and typing, why don't you prove your point by posting the names of 10 greater fighters.

If you can do that successfully, you'll have shoved Duran out of the top ten.

    I'll wait.

Duran is a possible top 5 because of his skills, who he beat, and who he fought. He beat very good guys at 135, marched into his fight with Leonard and beat him at 147, and beat Barkley who ko'd Hearns who ko'd Duran at 154. He fought Hagler, and turned Hagler into a boxer, he beat Moore at 154, and he was only stopped once in is entire career if you don't count the losses to Joppy and others...

Duran's won over 100 fights now I believe, and his skills are legendary. I don't know about top 5, but he is top 10 because he beat Leonard who is a top 10 fighter. Pac would have to beat Floyd, Paul Williams at 154, and Abraham to achieve top 10 status in this sport. Pac's resume is filled with 'past it' guys...guys Floyd beat first, and a catch weight ww title fight. Duran asked for no catch weights. He didn't care about that. Duran fought about 10 or more good black fighters... something PAc won't ever come close to doing.
