Martin Rogan is a slightly bigger Rocky Marciano. All it shows is that Rocky could never fight in today's era.

    I would be happy to.

Martin Rogan is not a great fighter, but he represents a generation that is better equipped to handle the nuances of the sweet science than that of the one Joe Louis came from. Rogan, and his peers had more extensive amatuer careers, used better training tactics and fought opponents who were larger, stronger, and everything else. Just because a guy was the best fighter of HIS era, doesn't mean that the honor is incherchangable where ever he travels through time. Its sort of like saying that a 1950 cadillac is a better piece of technology than a 1990 Ford escort. Sure the escort was considered an economy piece of **** in its time, where the Cadillac was thought of as a top of the line luxury car in 1950, but the reality is that the escort was designed to meet a hire standard, even it isn't the best of its era.

This point is often forgotten when comparing generations of athletes.

something like this , yes , but i also regarded rogan's special relevant attributes in that thread. he will charge louis and again , louis was stopped by marciano so a bigger rogan may repeat the feat. and i don't say would but i say could. i consider louis the favorite but not overwhelmingly like the rest here.

I can see where your coming from mate, but martin rogan??? For starters Rogan never even put on a boxing glove as an amateur until he was 28!!! He was pratically a novice all his amateur career, winning a few titles with literally no opposition and even then he was beat a few times. This isnt a pop at Rogan as,although i dont know him personally, we would share a few mutual friends and i would put my last penny on that if Rogan saw or heard about this thread,he would kill himself laughing at its absurdity.

Yes, and another thing, Joe Louis was a bad cook. There is no end to his faults as a human being.
