They'll always be dispute when a fight could have gone either way. Thats just how things are, its when 1 and 2 point splits are called "robberies" that it gets silly.

Close fights with one round between the fighters can be called a robbery.

If one fighter so obviously won their share of the rounds, no matter how close the scorecards should be, it is a robbery.

This applies to some, but obviously not all close fights.

The punch stats don't tell the full story though do they? Calzaghe was landing cuffing shots at best whilst Hop landied clean shots, can I ask where you got the stats from? You're right in saying in haven't watched the fight since though, think I'll need to watch it in the near future though as I clearly remember it being a very close fight. How you can say it was a clear Calzaghe victory is beyond me.

I appreciate punch stats don't tell the whole story.

That is why I will go into massive detail on a single round (of the first 4), which those who scored it for Hopkins shouldn't have.

Whatever needs to be done to open their eyes to Calzaghe definite victory, it will be done.

Most close fights hinge on 1-2 rounds that could reasonably have been called either way (or a draw). A lolt of people on ESB call "robbery" when the judges fail to agree with them on those close rounds.

Round 1 - Hopkins by default.

Just a quick two line summary on each of rounds 2-4 and why Hopkins won them will do mate.

I'll do all the in depth stuff.

Yeah Calzaghe was about as effective as Valuev and Froch was so much more effective he deserved the fight in your eyes whereas Calzaghe was a clear loser :rofl:patsch

I know the question in the OP was a very good one but (IMHO) we need to get away from from trying to draw parallels between the 3 fights to justify the scoring, esp. where Calzaghe-Hopkins is concerned, its absolutely nothing like either of the other 2 fights.

Surely it's only time before Jeff and Dan take up the challenge?

It is a ****ing massive challenge mate.

Justifying giving Hopkins the first four rounds against Calzaghe would take a really special effort from anyone.

    I guess it's settled then.

Calzaghe won and it's not subjective on any level.

A fairly tame response, I was hoping for some fireworks
