David Haye is no champion

What an apt name Mr Magoo is! You thought Haye vs Barrett was 'less than crowd pleasing?' Well, i was there, and the crowd loved it. Who doesn't like a slugfest with multiple knockdowns and a knockout? And I suppose you'd prefer Haye gives up his belt than fights his mandatory? Funnily enough, most people would prefer to see unified champions in divisions instead of belt holders. Who cares if he had a year of doing nothing?! There are plenty of other boxers out there to watch, with plenty of other great fights for every stinker like the valuev one.

Maybe you just aren't a fan of boxing, and are looking for a scapegoat to blame.

 

Boxing is tough to be a fan of. It's not that you take the good with the bad, you just have to find the good whenever you can.

Haye came on and quite looked like someone willing to shake things up and jump the queue to get the toughest fight available (and pose a legit challenge, stylewise) and then turned out to be a loudmouth looking to take the safest route to the most money. Can't really fault him for that. Many do it and all we can do is be thankful for those that don't always go that route. Haye is a disappointment only because it looked as though he would overthrow the norm and didn't.

As boxing fans, this is just business as usual. Try to look at the Super 6 and the excellent fights at WW (minus Floyd, unfortunately) for the good. If it isn't enough, then it's time to pack it in.

I dislike Haye but I give him credit. I didn like how he fought but a wins a win and you gotta do what you gotta do. Valuev is no easy task 7ft 320. I would say the only fighter to give a very good performance against him was Chugaev. I think Ruiz won both as well. Haye will be more intersting against normal sized heavyweights I doubt he will do much running against the Klits or Ruiz.

 

there's nothing wrong in my mind with riuz bs haye. Ruiz is a measuring stick - If haye is good then he can show his will. let it be
let it be quick , with this sort of challenge - let haye fight 3 or 4 times a year.
I m open to letting him live up to the hype he has created.

Larry Donald beat Valuev, and so did old man Holyfield. They didn't get the win, but everybody knows they deserved it. As you said, Ruiz beat Valuev too. That should put Hayes deserved win over Valuev into perspective. He did what he had to do (but he didn't do what he promised to do), won that belt (which wasn't a given) and he's now a beltholder - not the champ.

 

sure its all rigged, but thats the way boxing works, Ruiz knows how to hold on, claiming he should not have lost.

What I meant to get across is- if Haye clearly beats up Ruiz and look great while doing it than he might be the boxer that he is trying to sell us that he is.

And Haye is lame if Ruiz takes him the distance adn makes it a boring fight, win or lose .

 

Something tells me Haye could decapatate Ruiz and you would still bag on him.

But you probably thought Wlad/Ibragimov was the match of '08.

 

Chagaev already beat Valuev before Haye did & he did it easier too. Then Chagaev went on to get TKO'd by Wladimir. By default Wladimir already has that title in my book and for the record I said that before Haye was scheduled to fight Valuev for the watered down version of the WBA belt.

 

Oh i get it he has the Imaginary WBA heavyweight strap, very credible that belt:good

 

Hey Wlad deserves some credit, only the true greats have held that belt.
