Who is greater? Manny Pac. or Roberto Duran?

    I dont think duran ever said "my socks cost me a defeat against morales".......

    duran gets insulted to be compared to pacquiao....

    I knew Duran would beat Barkley the day they signed that fight. I promise you that. Barkley is a style fighter. He does great with some and terrible with others. Duran couldn't beat Sims 3 years before Iran. Barkley is a very mediocre fighter who has power and a lot of heart, but his skill level is not great, and he is the one mediocre guy who beat Hearns. So Duran got a shot at his title and he beat him. Fact is , Barkley fought other guys who gave us an indication how good Iran was. Kalambay beat him, Hearns was going to beat him in round 3 or 4, Nunn beat him, Benn beat him in one round, Toney beat him later, Maske and it goes on and on. Barkley was not great. Hearns was beaten by him yes, but the fact that Tommy was beaten twice shows more that the style was just not in Hearns favor. 38 year old former lightweight who fought at junior middleweight as early as 1978. Duran had enough to beat a guy like Iran. Come on, you really think beating Iran Barkley was a great great win?

    Kadyo, I agree-people do not see that. If Duran had beaten Hill instead of Hearns, Duran would be rated as the best fighter who ever lived. Hearns does it and no big deal. I thought it was very impressive a man who was a welt. who had won the 175 pound title already, wins a decision out jabbing and boxing a young boxer with 10 defenses who was the best lightheavy at the time. Yet this was Tommy, not Roberto. This is what I am talking about. I think Duran's great personality (and he did have a great personality) helped his ATG ranking. He is great. no doubt.. He is a 4 time champ, but he is not top 5 or top 10. This is what I am talking about. And when I say it people think I am being unfair to Roberto.

    Duran at the moment, but it's unfair to miss Manny until his career is over.

    He has a long way to go before he overtakes Duran though

    People maybe looking at things from different perspectives, they can always argue that Tommy may have beaten an undefeated Hill but lost the title in his immediate defense against Barkley whom Duran beat.

    I agree with Mag here. Duran is very overrated. His resume doesn't warrant a top 5 ATG placement that is so often easily given to him. SRL was clearly better and having Duran rated ahead of him is a cruel joke. Hearns also has a better resume. Duran lost to most of the ATGs he fought in SRL, Hearns, Benitez and Hagler. I think people fell in love with his macho mystique and the fact that he is the greatest Latino fighter ever for them that automatically puts him into the top 5 ATG which is absolutely ridiculous.

    His resume is arguably better than Duran he has better wins. Don't get mad at me because I don't think your hero Duran is the greatest ever.

    SRL wasn't in his prime IMO he was still young with little experience at the elite level. Duran lost to Dejesus as well in his prime.
