How many times have you been fooled by a fighter after seeing them put on a good performance only to discover there not that good, mine was by a fighter called '' The Italian ALI'' he fought Bobby Joe Young on NBC in 1983 at the time Bobby Joe was a top ten welter,Nino Larocca dominated Young with the fastest hands even to this day I have never seen anyone faster I was proclaiming him the best fighter in the world, that is until I saw his next few fights.

You seen that film 'the usual suspects' (classic)? Kevin Spacey says 'the biggest trick the devil ever pulled was making the world believe he doesn't exist'

Well the biggest trick Oscar De La Hoya ever pulled was making the world believe he was the highest level of fighter.

I'm not so sure Young was top 10, certainly not in the Ring ratings.

But yes, Nino looked the goods for a bit.

Strangly enough Young himself too was bracketed with Curry n' McCrory as tomorrows champs in the 147 division.

The devil is Kaiser Soze! Great movie! :good

Perhaps not really fitting but Tyson, Toney, Jones and Hamed fooled me. I thought they alll would become something very very special. It turned out they all ****ed up a little bit - while they still had good careers overall but never fullfilled their destinys.
    Tyson just got mental.
Toney was more interested in eating than fighting.
Jones was more interested in money than fighting the best.
Hamed believed in his own hype and forgot everything but his power.

    Pretty sad, I think.

Jose "The Threat" Baret. He was initially exposed by Marlon Starling.

Juergen Braehmer. He was called "century talent" and he certainly looked like one in his early fights, then he went to jail and was never the same. Still won a strap at lhw but he could have been so much better.

Yeah, not good. I think i missed the point of the thread a bit there though sorry, talking about Oscar when you're getting more at the level of fighters who were prospects who didn't materialise as world class.

Time for me to admit something here, i thought Jermaine Taylor was going to be very very very special. He's a good fighter but just can't turn his weaknesses around.

jeff lacy, had high hopes for the guy and he was badly exposed by opponents that could box. edison miranda is another one too, but its not too late for him though. training under goosen could make a difference IMO
