if he waits on Manny you are right, Manny will beat him to the punch, but as long as Cotto has it in his mind to be first and third, he will be fine...

He can and I'm betting on a very disciplined Pac, cause if he makes the mistakes he use to make, well........

I aint enough of an expert to break it down into details, but Cotto does get hit, his defense isnt that great and Roach sees something....

What this tells me though is Roach/pac have a strategy. I havent heard much of a strategy from Cotto, he has gotten into good shape but all he talks about is his power and he seems focused on that. That is a bad idea, Hatton was focused on his power and strength advantages but had no gameplan. DLH didnt have one either.

This is what is making me pick Manny. You need to be a good counter puncher with a strategy to beat him, like JMM showed. Manny is hittable, he leaves himself open but he gets away with it because of his speed. I think Cotto will have a hard time trying to find him due to manny's foot speed and mobility, he will be chasing manny around all night, missing and getting countered.

I think PBF would be a very difficult fight for Manny based on PBF's defense and his speed and counter punching abilities, he would make Manny pay for jumping in with his hands low.

I wish this thread was started 6 weeks ago and that Cotto and his trainer read it...

I really want Cotto to win but think Manny is going to can his ass. Not because Cotto is a bad fighter but that Roach has found bad habits which they will exploit...and do so ruthlessly.

I wonder what the outcome of the fight would be if Manny had Cotto's trainer and Cotto had Roach training him...

Cotto can get off first when he needs to. Against Judah, he constantly bulled in behind the jab and then uncorked with heavy combinations on the inside. If Pacquiao tries to exchange in that context, he'll get ****ed over. Obviously, Pacquiao isn't a static target like Judah, and it might be difficult for Cotto to time someone who pops in and out like Pacquiao does. The flipside of that, though, is that Pacquiao leaves himself massively vulnerable for counter-punching. If Cotto can time Pacquiao he should win hands down. If Pacquiao is too fast, he'll get worn down and stopped.

One of those "fundamental mistakes" Roach was talking about is how Cotto holds his hands high around his temples instead of down around his chin which leaves that opening down the middle for uppercuts, straight punches, etc....

By the way, I find it kind of funny that Roach talks **** about Cotto's fundamental's when Pac isn't exactly a perfect technician himself. Iron out your own fighter's technical flaws first before you start talking **** about other fighters and their trainers, Freddie.

If Pac-man jumps in and stays in too long like he use to do for years he's in trouble. If Cotto can start cracking that body when Pac comes in I think it will start to slow him down and lead to Miguel timing his head and shoulder movement. I think Cotto should really focus on timng the first few rounds, but not headhunting mainly body catching chest, gut, arms, ribs, whatever he can get. I'm pretty sure this would upset Pac's rhythm which we know will be what Pac is fighting off of all night.

Mate, I think Cotto and his trainer will know all this without a few posts off people sitting behind a computer commenting.

I agree with this post, and Cotto will he wont go after the head the way others have tried to.
I think Manny will box in this fight the way he did with Oscar, darting in and out, the key is here though he can not stay in there too long as you said, he did alot with Oscar and got away with it cus Oscar was affected with the weight loss, if he does this with Cotto he will pick up a receipt for every purchase he makes.

Also note in the DLH fight Pacquiao hit Oscar low alot~ if he hits Cotto low I hope Cotto hits him back low.

    Cotto's habits?

    What about Pacquiao's habits?

    1. He comes straight in. He always goes straight back when retreating.

    2. He punches while looking at the floor and is off balance most of the time. (typical southpaw)

    3. He is easily hit by anyone with a 1-2-3. Double left jab followed by a straight right hand down the pipe. Hits him every time. Cotto will do this all night long to him.

    4. No foot work, period.

    5. He is a jumper inner when he punches. (Which is why he is looking at the matt when he throws most of his punches)

    6. He has no real defense to speak of. (head movement, footwork, or perrying)

Sure Cotto has habits, but so does Pacquiao......

    Cotto to win.:good
