I understand where Cotto is coming from. It's similar to Hatton not choosing to fight Witter because of their history. However, if Margarito did use loaded gloves and Cotto truly believes this, why not beat him up badly? Margarito's stock is so low, he won't be able to argue that he deserves close the amount of money he made last time. Cotto has the chance to kill any hype left and pretty much finish his career, if he should win. I do understand his point but a victory in the ring, will mean more in 30 years time, than a moral victory would.

If he loses again, though, he'll have no excuse. Margarito is a bad match-up for him with or without plaster. That said, Margarito has probably been on the slide with the lay-off and with the beating he took from Mosley.

Would love to see this fight again. The first was a really exciting battle. Even if both fighters are past their best, their styles will always make for a compelling matchup.

To be honest I would like to see the rematch and I think Cotto smokes Margarito the second time around, especially after seeing Shanes blueprint on how to offset Margarito's mauling style. However, this would only be helping Margarito, rather than hurting him, even if Margarito (which I believe he would) were to lose. Helping Margarito in that Margo would probably get the best payday he can get (after being suspended for loaded gloves) against Cotto for a couple of reasons 1) Margarito already defeating Cotto but it now tainted by him getting caught with loaded gloves against Mosley 2) People wanting to see Margarito get his ass handed to him by Cotto simply for the fact of trying to cheat. Also, if Margarito were to lose in a rematch he would get more fights signed down the line as he would be viewed as a lesser threat.

Margarito is and always will be a bad match-up for cotto....a few months back I would have picked margarito by decision, but now after the lay-off and margarito's mental state he loses by decision in a close fight....

I agree but Margarito needs a win or 2 to abandon the wraps thing lets say he goes out and beats Collazo or regains his IBF title against Hlatschwayo then he holds some stock if he doesnt then IMO Cotto should not think about giving him a re match .

As it stands facts are facts , and the fact is Cotto beat Mosley by a whisker and Mosley blitzed Marg , without the loaded gloves , you have to assume Marg has been using loaded gloves in all of his previous fights before Shane , you have to because he was caught only against Mosley !!!!!

I don't see the point. Cotto is still at a disadvantage in size. He is a small welterweight and Margarito is a big welterweight. I would rather see Margarito move up in weight and prove he was skillful and not just a strong big guy. If he can win the 154 and 160 pound titles then it would prove he was skillful as much as just a swarmer. I would not want to see Cotto or Pacman fight Margarito. Too much advantage for Margarito.

the loaded gloves issue is interesting because it shows that Margarito needed that assurance to win fights or have an advantage if it is true about the inserts. And I doubt he could use those inserts and not know it. He would feel it everytime he punched. But regardless of that, I think Margarito would have probably beat Cotto anyway. He was bigger and the style was in his favor. Cotto just could not deal with the strength of Margarito. And that is not his fault. He was just too small.

I dont think Margarito should be allowed to make a penny more in boxing. But at the very least he will need to prove he can win a decent fight without cheating before geetin a chancew to make money against Cotto. Well, it also depends on what happens tonight. If Cotto wins, there is no point on face Tony, but if Cotto losses, then the fight might make some sense. I think Margarito could also go for a Margarito/Santos 3.
