I don't see how Manny cracked, he is a fun-loving guy...he's always laughing outside of the ring. He probably had a funny mental image of Cotto leaning forward to kiss him. Even Cotto smirked a few times after that. Alot of you guys make a mountain of a molehill.
Yup. I guess it's fun to think you've found a kink in the armor of your fighters opponent pre-fight since that's all you can really go by. But in truth it means ****.
Oh was that in the contract? The fighters can choose to have a staredown if they so wish. Didn't they walk up to each other, when Cotto shook Roach's hand? Had a few pictures, but no actual staredown, they were long enough to have a stare down. Anyway staredowns don't mean much. Pacman is always laughing about prior to fights. If Roach DID INFACT insist no stare down, then he's probably a little worried OR pissed off because of what happened with Santiago. I wouldn't say Pacman is worried and he looked fairly confident, Cotto always looked how he always looked, ready for business.
The staredown is for the camera's and media -- just one of those things that fighters usually do but don't have to do. Both fighters did pose together but didn't face each other at the same time. Fuk, Oscar would barely look at his opponent during the ref's instructions IN THE RING then go on to KTFO out of well over 30 of those guys he wouldn't stare at. lol
to add to that, fighters like Tyson took the staredowns dead serious. If they see their opponent look away they think they have some edge. In reality, sure a fighter may be looking away because he's scared, uncomfortable, or whatever, but once those fists start flying it doesn't mean ****. Some fighters pay no attention to getting into those "mental battles" so won't even play that game. Manny doesn't seem one to give a rats ass about all of that. Not sure Cotto does either. I guess it's entertaining to discuss but in reality won't mean much tonight.
What has pac ever done to a world class fighter in their prime to make you think he could tko Cotto. To be honest pac presents nothing new to Cotto that he hasn't already seen. The flipside is pac has never faced anything like Cotto. Pac has yet to show me he can stick to the kind of gameplan against an elite fighter that would even lead a reasonable person to believe he will blow out or even dominate Cotto. A badly faded morales still pulled out the first win. MAB had some highlights. JMM you know the story their. The point is out off all his last fights JMM was the only one at or near their prime, and Pac went life and death with him. Cotto clearly has been fighting the better opponents and it will show up tonight. But anything can happen and God I hope I'm right becuase lately I could not pick a fight to save my life. One good thing is my son picked Pac and whoever he picks always lose.
I don't think Cotto is prime; he's declined. He's by no means shot but he's not the fighter that beat Mosley. I believe what Pac did to Oscar, Cotto wouldn't have done. Cotto wouldn't have iced Hatton in 2lbs rounds either. Cotto really hasn't done much. He stopped Zab, so what, and he barely edged out aging Mosley. Pac has crushed legends, Cotto hasn't accomplished any of that and you could argue he lost his last fight against clottey. You're getting an ATG in Pac vs. a very good fighter of his era in Cotto.
Who beats who and how is irrelavent. Foreman crushed fraizer and norton. Ali struggled with both. Ali KO's Foreman, get the point. Cotto has beat the top ww's out there. Quintana who beat PW, Mosley who is still very close to his prime more so than EM,MAB,Hoya,Hatton. The Cotto who lost to Marg would still beat Pac. Clottey no matter who you think won is a tough fight for anyone. Pac has become P4P off of Mayweathers left overs. I think pac is a good fighter but ATG, you can call him that if you totally ignore the fact that the legends he did beat were all subprime.
Yes he does and tonight he will look like a tank... Cotto is not Ricky Hatton who abuses his body by drinking beer, and blowing up in weight between fights. He has a defense and boxing skills with true welter weight power, one shot can end the fight. Cotto is not a weight drained Oscar, which is what Roach was obviously hoping to be the case, he isnt a fighter that can no longer pull the trigger as Roach said about De La Hoya. this is a 28 year old world champion who has fought the bigger man his entire career he has won fights against the top welters who actually were healthy enough skilled enough and young enough to fight him back. Reality checking tonight......
