Yeah i could believe that Gaz. It's not nice to look back on a great heavyweight and say he took dives so i would prefer to think he just knew Ali was to good for him and thought ''i can't be asked''

Pryor was a junior WW, wasn't he?

Rand also stated that Leonard got lucky against Hearns, rather than setting the shot up and taking advantage of it.

    Actually, there's another one:

Hearns only lost because he didn't make the weight properly against Leonard.

Pryor was a lt welterweight and never fought at welterweight while Leonard was champion, how could Leonard duck a fighter that never fought at his weight?

Even Hearns himself says the weight wasn't an issue when he lost to Leonard.

Tyson was cheated out of his title against Douglas, due to a long count.

Of course, Tyson got the exact same treatment on his KD, he just didn't get up.

not a myth...but something i am reminded of reading this thread...
it's well known that sugar ray robinson lost to joey maxim due to heat exhaustion..
but maxim's reply was always - "there was no refridgerator in my corner"

When i was about 12 and was boxing my dad told me Jack Dempsey used to soak hands and face in his own **** to toughen up skin. Doing what kids do when they think something might help i go ahead and follow in Jack's footsteps.

Yet my trainer when i told him what i did..said that's not true and it's a old wives tale. Now i know this aint a myth because i've read it but alot of people don't feel it helps toughen up skin..supposedly he used horse urine.

Anyone heard of any strange rituals like this from modern day or past fighters???

:think Everyman to his own . I suppose it does have it's benefits. I don't see a problem with it. The Marquez drinking urine saga had alot of people talking...i was told it does help but it must be the first **** of the morning.

The claim that Brendan Ingle discovered a 7 yr old Hamed when he was fighting on the street sound like B.S to me!

Well Ingle claimed to have created the style that Hamed and all the Wincobank fighters used yet Herol Graham claims Ingle took it from him and he learned it back in Nottingham...so there seems to be a lot of stuff unfolding about that gym as time goes on.

There is a myth that Don King jumped over the prostrate body of Michael Dokes to get to new world champ Gerrie Coetzee but you can see the ending on youtube and it never happened.

Mills Lane did a good job in Tyson/HolyfieldII....

Tyson bit Holyfield's ear clearly and Mills let Tyson off, so he could have another chump; this time actually biting part of the ear off!
