he showed heart and skill. He looked way better than I thought he would and it still didn't matter.

Pac is just that great.

 

Cotto isn't a warrior because he quit in the 9th round against a smaller man. He ran away from a guy that's bigger and stronger than.

Cotto is a stud.

Not many fighters in the world that weight or lower would have made it through that and he went 12, looked like a baseball bat had hit him and still was arguing with the ref five minutes later.

He's not as skilled as Manny, but he's a lions heart. I thought he was dangerous right up til the end. Even backing away he was countering and surviving well.

 

I am no fair weather fan at all. . .I am still a Cotto fan and I actually know him personally as we train in the same gym. That doesn't take away from the fact that I am tremendously dissapointed in Cotto's performance. I will always be his fan and will forever support him in his career. But we as a nation expected a solid performance and Cotto actually using his strength, his body work and that beautiful right he showed with Mosely. Like I said, had he lost but had given Pac hell. . .no prob but he barely slapped Pac's wrist. Please understand the very deep dissappointment Cotto fans are going through.




Cotto deserves credit for a gutsy showing like I said but his actual performance in the ring was garbage. Will I continue to be a die hard Cotto fan? Of course I will, but tonight was just one of those nights in which you simply expected far more from your fighter and I don't care how good Pacquaio is. . .Cotto's performance was horrible. . .Pac or no Pac. He was not supposed to have looked that bad.

 

Cotto is a warrior. . .but he's not warrior enough! Like you said, JMM really showed balls in being willing to trade when hit. Marquez also has that one thing that Cotto lacks: the ability to take a good punch, suck it up and fight back and the ability to come back after multiple knockdowns. That is the ultimate definition of warrior spirit and will and you can't really train it. You either have it or you don't. Unfortunately, Cotto doesn't have it.




When hurt, Cotto goes into that lateral movement, retreat mode of his and prays that hes in there with a boxer not powerful enough (Clottey) to exploit this extreme vulnerability. When he started doing that retreat mode **** against Pac, I knew the fight was lost.

 

Cotto was still diminished from the Margarito fight, which was even more devastating than this loss. But a great win for Manny nevertheless.

 

you're a douche. The first four rounds were highly competitive, there was nothing to chose between them (apart form the knockdowns).

Fact is, the Pac packs a punch and from the middle rounds these took their toll on Cotto. He was getting hit a lot, but even in the later rounds he was doing well. I remember round 8 in particular he was hitting Pac with some quality shots. In the end, the better guy won, but Cotto fought very well. His speed was most impressive.

 

Up until the first KD. . .up to that point it was competitive. Like I said, Cotto simply cannot handle being hit hard. His only answer is to go retreat mode and pray he gets out of the round (Torres) or that the opponent lacks power and killer instinct (Clottey).
