Yeah Pacman is a great fighter no doubt, but Cotto beat Mosley prior to the Margarito fight. That kind of beating does not make a fighter better -ever. The Clottey fight was a struggle for Cotto. There is a question whether Cotto was the same fighter today as he was two years ago. If Pacman had beaten Mosley and scored a 12th round knockout over him tonight, I would have been completely surprised. With Cotto I am not.

How is his win "overrated" when he executed poorly at times and still shut down shop? Pacquaio earned that win. **** that.

Cotto was 'past his best' now - How surprising someone should say that. You would be more impressed if Pacquaio beat the guy who lost to Cotto...

Hell, if Cotto is 'past his best' what the hell is Mosley - only old and shot if Pacman beats him right?

prior to Margarito. I don't think Cotto would have beaten Mosley now.

yes. of coarse. Cotto had a struggle with Clottey and lost to Margarito. Pacman did beat Oscar and even though he beat Hatton who was a 140 pound champ, Pacman's handspeed is incredible. I give him that. I think what needs to happen is Pacman now had to fight Floyd. There is no other fight for either of them now.

If the Margarito beating affected Cotto so much, why did he not retire? Cotto is a smart guy and puts his health and family before the sport. Cotto himself said he closed the chapter on Margarito, whether that's his pride speaking I don't know but I take his word for it. Also, he is convinced that Margarito loaded his gloves in their fight, Cotto was anxious to prove it to himself that he was the best fighter on the planet....By the way Cotto spoke, I highly doubt he was still affected by the Margarito loss. If anything, he should be more affected by THIS loss more so than the Margarito one...

I love Cotto to death but 1) he must either get a new corner with a world class trainer or 2) retire.

Actually that is a very good point. I thought that myself. Oscar is not looking so bad now.

Hell no this win wasnt overrated at all. He destroyed cotto. Yes cotto is overrated but if people rate cotto so high, so be it.

But you are right. Pac would have fits against someone who can actually BOX and not get into a slug fest. We all know who that is.:deal

I know but Cotto is a warrior. I doubt he will retire even now. He will take some time off and fight on and probably still do ok, but the losses will come more often and earlier in fights as time goes on.

On what basis would you have ranked Pac over Cotto at WW, before last night?

because.. Pacquaio just beat him? Would you say the same had Cotto won this fight? Look I'll concede that maybe cotto wasn't quit tehw same guy, but the first couple rounds of this fight he looked as sharp and quick as he's ever been, in fact he looked better then his past 3 fights. He just got outfought . He was up against a style that was problematic for him. Pac right now beats any version of Cotto. Styles make fights man.

Manny was "top 35" about 2 years ago. As of now, he's a lock for the Top 15 of All Time.
