Everyone who doesn't acknowledge that DLH was a shell of his former self against Pac is just not being honest, and looking to make Pac look better than he already looks. Guys, just stop, it's not necessary. Pacquiao is the greatest fighter of his time until proven otherwise, regardless of what kind of version of DLH he beat.
DLH didn't beat Floyd, not officially and not according to the opinion of the very vast majority, Floyd fought DLH 1,5 years earlier, which might not seem significant but for a fighter already passed his best it can make a serious difference, and everybody knows that for the mayweather fight DLH fought at his ideal weight at that stage and for Manny he was severely drained. Nobody in their right mind would deny that Floyd beat a better version of Oscar than Manny did, just like nobody should deny that this is balanced out by the fact that Manny beat him in a much more devastating way or that acknowledging that Oscar was shot and drained for Manny doesn't mean that Manny is not a greater fighter than Floyd as it stands now.
Most people I know had DLH winning that fight. A Shot DLH beat Floyd in a close fight, watch it with the volume down. A Prime DLH would KO Mayweather within 4 Mayweather is a scared fighter
Oscar was shot but not as shot as people say. Oscar's been a part-time fighter since about 2004 anyways. But the fact is that Pacquiao is a terrible style matchup for Oscar AND is a better fighter than he's ever been. I keep telling people that. Prime for prime Oscar vs Pacquiao might be a competitive fight but Pacquiao takes it all day. The Oscar that beat Julio Cesar Chavez would 100% lose to Pac. And that is not a reaction to what happened yesterday. I've been saying that since Dec. 2008
De La Hoya lost SD to then P4P Mayweather...12 months earlier so no he wasnt completely shot....but he miscalculated his weight and tried to prove he didnt have to be bigger to beat PACMAN. To the MUPPETT who compared it to JONES Calzaghe....Jones was totally shot...he was 39 had been KOD twice previously and hadnt faught at a good level for 5 YEARS.
A prime DLH destroys Pacquiao for sure , if you wanna see what a prime DLH is watch his fights with Shane , then watch him against Forbes and tell me he was'nt shot against Manny !!!!!!
The Golden Boy had been fading for a considerable amount of time. Don't forget that the fight was in 2008, whereas Oscar was fighting legends from 95-2000. He lost 3 of the last 6 fights before fighting Pacman. He hadn't fought at below 150 since 2001. To say that a prime Oscar would have been destroyed in the same way is ridicolous. He might have lost, but not in the same manner.
Roach himself said he saw blood drops on DLH from where they removed the saline IV to rehydrate DLH and he knew theyd have an easy night. Roach is a very smart dude he sees weaknesses in fighters and he knows what to look for. Nobody now can say Manny cant fight at 147 because he has been kicking ass and he can be very effective but Roach likes to get every edge he can.
DLH was on the down slope for a long time, he didnt look good at all against Steve Forbes, that was supposed to be an easy fight where he was supposed to win, and he did but he struggled. There is no doubt that an early 2000's DLH would have KOed Forbes with ease.
