Not because of people fearing him after his performance last night but simply because if the Mayweather fight does not happen then there is nobody eles. The other welterweight title holders (Mosely berto and Hlatshwayo) are out as Mosely and Berto are fighting each other. So it would be atleast March or April before a fight with the winner could happen. And Hlatshwayo would bring zero interest to anyone out there, not even 24/7 could hype this fight. Paul Williams is fighting Martinez and then Pavlik so he is out of the question. Timothy Bradley is fighting Peterson in December and i dont think Bradley is ready for Pac yet if he ever willl be. Margarito wont want to fight Pacquiao right after a year off and the lose to SSM Not much noise at Junior Middle to draw Pac that far north. Zab Judah anyone? :yep :yep
Believe it or not, i think Zab could trouble Pac if he genuinely trained hard and got into proper mindset. Id definitely purchase the fight.
I think he should go up in weight and get a light middle weight title. He can do it. He should fight the weakest champion though.
Potentially, he can fight Mayweather and Mosley. If he beats both of them (not that I think he will) he'll have a thick enough record to retire without worrying about legacy.
supposedly Arum & Roach are planning a third fight with Marquez...Valero is still in the cards as well
Pac only fights 2/3 times a year anyway so no hurry, he can wait for the big names. Mosely /Berto winner in April would be fine, its mid Nov now so realistically that is a fine timeline. Pavlik has bailed how many times on PW so thats a possibilty. Whoever he fights from now on, and i include Mayweather in this, i will not bet against him again. Done it twice and realise i was wrong, he is the P4P king no question.
Waste of time, Pac will win handily. The fight that MUST be made is Mayweather-Pacquiao, the biggest fight since Chavez-Whitaker, arguably bigger.
I remember in the Cotto Judah fight Manny Steward said about Judah "He is overmatched, its like watching a big animal fighting against a small one like a dog or something" referring to Cottos physical advantage over Judah. Well last night Pac showed he is physically stronger than Cotto. I have no doubt that he would pick Judah apart and it wouldnt take him more than 6 rounds.
