Cotto is one of my fave fighters out there today and in the 9th round seeing him getting pounded on and beaten up i think anyone who loves the sport and is a Miguel Cotto fan couldnt help but be saddend to see him take that beating. Cotto looked good in the first 3-4 rounds so his physical gifts are still there i think that **** Margarito beat the confidence and spirit out of Cotto and his chin which wasnt his strongest point any way has declined even more but credit to Manny no exscuses no weight drain bull or any of that Manny is at the top of his game and he was the better fighter what impressed me even more was that many thought Pac was weak to the body well Cotto is one of the best body punchers around and Manny wasnt even bothered by those bodyshots. I thought Floyd would handle them if they ever met now thats a 50-50 fight and i actually think Manny has the edge.
I just stoped crying lol. Pac is a beast and deserves all the credit i cant believe Cotto did not hurt him at all i just think cotto did not stick to his game plan at all
yea sad to see, cotto was doing really well early, but strayed from his gameplan & paid, pac was simply the better fighter.
I agree with the both of you.....Margarita took something away from Cotto with those loaded gloves. He should be banned for life !!!!
can manny pacquiao ever get credit for something? dlh was old, hatton was shot after mayweather, and he was never that good to begin with, cotto was finished when he fought margarito. barrera's fight was a fluke the first time because barrera was having problems with promotions, erik morales been in too many wars to be fresh for pac. what you are watching right now is legendary with pac, much like the way people talk about robinson, ali, louis, leonard, pep. enjoy while you can because this is something you can tell your kids and grandkids about, and pac probably is towards the end of his career more than he is towards the begining of it.
At least Cotto didn't resort to dirty tactics that so many have branded him with. IMO he showed real skill and class last night and just ran into an ATG fighter.
As a Pacfan, I thank you for giving that respect and no excuses. I also love Miguel Cotto, but don't give up on him, he can still go up against the top in the weight, just not against Pac. I loved the humility of Cotto at the end, and he made me love him even more. (bows)
I like Cotto a lot. Classy fighter and classy guy. I hope he comes back. I still think he could handle most of the other top guys out there.
Now THIS is a good post. Right on the money, although I do agree it was rough watching Cotto get plastered like that. He's all class and extremely good for the sport.
I just don't know how you can stick to your game plan when you're being hit and your game plan isn't working. I think it was time for plan B which was "just let this be over with." Sorry but it's true.
It was surreal seeing Cotto like that. He went from a hard no smiles bad ass to a weiner looking kid with queery tattoos. Still hes earned my respect for the night and earned his paycheck.
as a cotto fan i can tell you that i do not feel bad for him because he gave it his all and he came up short. it was a fight!!! what do you expected. I will not make one excuse for him, he just lost to a much better guy, nothing wrong with that. I do not think that Cotto is shot. I still think that he can be the Hattons and Bertos of the world but Paquiao is just in a league of his own. We are witnessing an incredible fighter that comes once in our lifetime. If I am cotto i would do 3 more fights, collect some 12 million in between all of them and call it a day. I believe he is still healthy and young.
Full respect to Cotto, the man is a warrior. I felt slightly overcome when he kissed his dad on the cheek just before he got up off the stool for another round of beatings. I hope he continues fighting like he said he would. A good man and a classy fighter.
It's always sad to see the fighter you like take a beating but it's part of the game. Mostly I feel bad for Cotto not being able to win the biggest fight of his life but the truth is Pac's a beast.
Yeah, it really upset me seeing Cotto like that. It was like seeing Cotto-Marg all over again. Same place, same scenario. Margarito ruined his path to the top. All props to Pacquiao, he was an absolute machine in their, he was just a level above. I just can't help feel saddened for Miguel.
