Just re-watched the first half of the fight and Cotto made way too many mistakes. More mistakes than I caught the first time around. It was obvious at some points he got into big exchanges and got a little wilder coming foward (Like the second knockdown. Ironically, this was worrying for Pac in my mind due to the question of how he can take a Cotto punch). Now, this isn't an excuse thread because I picked Pac by late TKO although I did root for Cotto. This is just simply observation. And the lack of experience in the corner didn't help. It probably pressured Cotto to think he had to do more. When Cotto was tight, sticking behind the jab, and making his big shots/combos come on the inside he did fairly well. When he got into wild exchanges, didn't move his head, didn't use the jab enough, and let the fight happen in the mid to outside he was getting busted up big time. Roach was right about Pac wearing Cotto down, and he was also more right about the lack of experience in Cotto's corner. That didn't help, but after re-watching the first half of the fight it is clear that Cotto made way too many mistakes that were costly. I'm not saying he was going to win either way, but that's why the fight changed so rapidly. The shots he took, combined with the confidence drainer from those knockdowns and feeling Pac's punchers just shook him up.

Spectacular performance from Manny. He was pretty much near perfect and executed the gameplan perfectly. That didn't help for Cotto's sake, also.

I think cotto did a pretty good job actually. He seemed sharper and quicker then I've seen him in a long time. I think that Manny simply turned up the heat in round 2,and started to find his mark with his punches. But ya , brawling with Manny Pacquaio is not a good idea.

I know you like Pac, and I do to. He was mesmerizing, but if you re-watch the first half of the fight Cotto made some mistakes and lost his composure. In fact, Cotto was doing all right up until round 3-4 even with the knockdowns.

Manny was unbelievably great. Manny didn't just pick the pace up. The fight drastically starts to change for a combination of reasons I listed.

He should have never brawled with Manny and he should of kept fighting off the jab ..

No question Cotto was hampered by an ineffective corner, but I'm not sure there is much he could have done differently. Pacquiao is just a better fighter.

Again, when Cotto gets buzzed with something good that's his reaction. He can't help it. That's him.

Look again, did Pac turn up the heat, or did Cotto?

My observation was that Cotto sensed that he could bully Pacquiao and it was he who turned it up and started to want to just simply want to wail and start to punish Pacquiao.....just as he was doing that, the windows of opportunity opened up for Pacquiao, and his speed flurries started connecting on an advancing Cotto.

Imo, it was Cotto who turned up the heat, and Pac was more than willing to welcome it.

Future opponents should take note, but obviously Pac has a say on the matter.......it really takes a really focused fighter with a specific boxing mentality to diffuse Pacquiao.......and obviously getting the job done is a tedious mentally and fatigueing affair not just anyone can accomplish!:D

Cotto would have had to have fought an absolutely perfect fight to win it. As it is, he did pretty well, but he made too many mistakes and paid for it. The second knockdown was a prime example. Amateurish move.

Did you even watch the fight? The reason the jab was abandon was because Pac was countering it. Sure there were a few that got to Pac but Cotto was eating power punch and looping punches.

post like this are just jokes. Post like this are saying Pac won not because he was the better fighter. This is basicly saying he won cause Cotto gave it away. Total BS.

cotto has boxed better before he should have stuck to it but i dnt know what happened, he just let manny completely take over and do everything he wanted, oh well on to mayweather hopefully and mayweathers boxing is in a class all its own he wont lose his composure and start to brawl
