That´s true and I never said I pick McGirt over Cotto. I only mentioned that the boxer-type fighters Cotto faced are enywhere in the league of McGirt.

 

Sure it is. Here's one that is well and truly substantiated: Oscar looked horrible for anyone with eye sight.

Well chop chop nearly knocked him out. Judah rattled him and he had to stall for some time with some nut shots.

McGirt has had success with a lot of boxers too, and the guys who have beaten him have pressured him and had enormous workrates.

Bottom line for me though is that McGirt is a better fighter than Cotto and would outbox him. Better defense and better speed too.

 

Using those fighters as a comparison is pretty tenuous.

Surely you can see the holes in that argument.

Id prefer to look at the Brown fight...You can make a better comparison there..A decent boxer puncher (he hadnt gone full blown slugger just yet, he had a bit of skill at his best) with a good jab and left hook to the body plus Simon had more proven stamina and durability...we all know what happened there. I mean Judah and Malignaggi???

I think Buddy would have a lot of fits against a guy like Pac..He didnt like that kind of unrestrained aggression and fast pace. But Miguel's methodical approach and his patented gassing plays right into Buddy's hands.
I think its a competitive fight but McGirt wins it wide more then likely..I dont think 10-2 is all that crazy a prediction though it doesnt appear to give Miguel his dues, competitive fights can still end up being scored that way.

 

pac takes a close decision win over mcgirt but i do think mcgirt would win his fair share of the rounds 7-5.

and mcgirt would beat cotto by clear ud 8-4

Who doesn't look "horrible" when they're in with a much quicker and classier southpaw opponent who is completely overwhelming them?

Doesn't prove that DeLaHoya is going to lose to someone like Collazo, a fighter who choked against the only HOFer he fought and has fallen short any time he's fought an elite opponent (including one that Pac blasted out in 2 rounds). Hoya showed in his previous fight that he could still outclass B-level opponents at that stage of his career.

So they each won one or two rounds against him in fights they were otherwise battered and shut down. That doesn't say much to me. If anything, that just reaffirms how difficult Cotto is to outbox (as opposed to catching and KOing).

Judah and a faded chop chop would struggle mightily to outbox any good welter though.Hell, judah can't even contain the likes of Baldomir.

 

Maybe, but we saw Quintana outbox a good welter in Paul Williams.

 

There's a difference between being made to look bad and being plain ole shite though.

DLH offered absolutely no resistance, he couldn't get punches off and and basically he was a diuretics zombie in there.

Now I'll admit that Pac didn't make things easy for him, but DLH was SOOO ineffective that I struggle to see him doing much with even a Collazo level fighter.

Sure he handled Forbes in the fight before but how much did he weigh for that one? And I'm not just talking about about the weigh in, but the day of the fight too.

DLH clearly was drained to all hell and couldn't do anything in there.

Am I going too far in saying Collazo would beat him? Maybe. But nevertheless, if you don't acknowledge that DLH was a shadow of a shell in there, then there's nothing else to say.

What it affirms is how difficult it is for guys a couple of levels below Buddy McGirt to outbox Cotto.
