Mine has. Before the Cotto/Pacman fight, i thought Cotto would win. But we all saw what happened. Cotto's "boxing skills" were deemed irrelevant due to Pacman's amazing hand speed. Cotto was overwhelmed.

I thought PBF would outclass Pacman. But after the Cotto fight, i'm not so sure. I don't know if throwing, single counter shots is going to stop Pacman from coming forward. Also, Pacman proved that his chin is pretty good. PBF might have to get out of his element somewhat to win.

    Now i think it's a 50/50 fight.

    Thoughts.

I still favour Mayweather, based on styles, but this fight raised Pac's chances in my opinion. It showed that he could take real power from a bigger, top class guy, and that he could hurt him too.

Also something that's become increasingly clear is just how distinctive Pac is as a fighter in the modern game -- he's a powerful slugger, but he's also lightning fast with his hands and feet, and can dart around the ring like a cat with an in-and-out rhythm. The stereotypical image of sluggers, to my mind, is that of being very static and needing to plant their feet...but with Pac it seems like he can actually punch with power WHILE on the move, in furious combinations. Really interesting to watch, and I can easily see him giving Floyd a lot of issues with his speed, southpaw stance, power, workrate, conditioning and footwork, not to mention Roach's strategies and training.

I still favour Floyd though, simply because Pac is at the stylistic disadvantage. If Cotto was outboxing him in patches, Mayweather would really warm to the task, with constant movement, jabbing and sheer elusiveness to frustrate the hell out of Pac. Still, Pac is SO damned fast that even Mayweather can't evade/roll/block everything...and when he gets hit with some flush shots, things will become really interesting.

Cotto said he didn't know where the punches were coming from. Pacman was throwing from every angle and Cotto was just overwhelmed.

not really. I thought at 147 Pac vs PBF is pretty much a 50/50 fight, slightly favouring Pac. I still think so.

Think about those final rounds when Cotto was moving around and around and Pac was having a hard time closing the gap on him. Well Floyd can do that over 12. Pac will still get his shots in but Floyd will also get some potshots in.

It'll be a ****ing close fight.

At a lower weight I don't think Floyd would have the pop to keep Pacquiao off, Pac takes it easy.

    hmm says . . .

good thread... his chances in my opinion have improved. we also saw a glimpse of a PBF fight when Cotto was backpeddling and using footwork...

Mayweather will give Pacquiao a one sided boxing lesson. Pacquiao would take a beating and get countered to death. No matter how quick you think Paquiao is, you can't hit what is not there. Mayweather will not be there.:good

Cotto was backpedaling to survive, Floyd will be backpedaling tactically. I'm not particularly a Floyd fan but it will be a tough fight for pac.

Ya, i was beginging to think Pacquaio had half a chance but seeing how many times he got hit and how average he looked when trying to trap Cotto from 7-12 im more confident that Mayweather will box rings around him. Pac gets hit, Mayweather doesnt, big win for Mayweather..points id predict 9-3 ish

    Me has changeed a bit.

When I saw Pac demolished Hatton, I said Pac might just have a decent chance of beating PBF.

After Cotto, I think Pac's chances is slimmer.

Given that performance, I do not like his chances against PBF..

I think Roach REALLY needs to boost Pac's defence. Get back to that old style of constant, Frazier-esque bobbing and weaving as you close the range...Pac already has a nice, high guard, but he needs more head movement AS HE COMES IN, because that's when the counters will be flying.
