He's beaten three ex welterweight champions - one of those being a guy who went as high as middleweight champion. While ODLH wasn't anywhere near his best, he was still a credible challenge at 147. Then you've got Hatton who managed to gain a title at 147 and fought the best in the world at that weight. Then you've got Cotto, who has fought everyone no one else wanted to fight at 147 and despite the two losses, still has a pretty damn good resume. Can we now say that Pacquaio is proven at 147? i.e if he signs to fight Mosley or Floyd, or any other regular sized Welterweight, can we remove size from the table, being that his height is very comparable and he's shown that the punching at this weight doesn't seem to effect him?
Apparently Pac has gone back to being a midget again even after looking just as big as cotto in that ring
Paul Williams is not a true 147 and is simply a freak of nature that somehow cooks himself down to that level, in saying that, it's been a while since he's fought there so I don't know if he can get himself back there. Which is why I added "regular welterweight" to the equation - a guy who won't come in at 165 on fight night Floyd, Mosley, Pacquaio and even Cotto all tend to be in and around that 153-160 limit on fight night, that's "acceptable" in my view as a welterweight.
#1 - Paul can make 147 comfortably. I have no idea where this nonsense started that he is moving up because he can;t make weight. He moved up to find more fights. #2 - Paul walkls around less than Cotto, Hatton, and Oscar... Pac's lass three opponents... #3 - Paul has never come in close to 165 on fight night when fighting at welter. Joshua Clottey, on the other hand....
:good It should not be a question... He beat a legitmate WW, albeit at 145 catchweight.... I think he is proven at 147. No more 145 and 144-pound fights for him....
100% No more Pacman being too small talk, he is brilliantly suited to these higher weights, its bringing out his best.... maybe if all fighters fought at a weight were they dont need to cut weight to gain an advantage over there opponent we would see the best of every fighter. Pacquiao has been training for the fight, not training for the fight AND worrying about cutting weight, every fighter should do the same, I hope Manny has started a new trend here, a trend for the better, train to fight & whatever weight you are at the end of your training then thats your weight.
david and golliath? 6'1 160lbs vs 5'6 140lbs...sure! i bet weightdrained is the best excuse here. cant see how skinny he gets.
