How about the same Duran that kicked Dejesus`s ass TWICE & by KO, not pts & in championship matches, the one that dominated the LWTs from 72-79, the one that dominated Palomino, handed Leonard his 1st loss & was regarded as the no1 p4p, how about using those versions ?

Sure, he was hot & cold after 1980 but he already had a HOF career under his belt by then & was regarded as already one of the best ever.

He can do no wrong in the eyes of some people & I dont let him off with the losses on his record but the good outweighs the bad by a complete landslide & in his prime he would beat Pacquiao & most others who ever lived around his best weights.

Palomino was long past his prime, and take away that victory at LW and who's the next best fighter Duran fought? He has FAR less of a resume than Pac below 147, it's not even arguable. Also, if you want to say that the rematch and rubbermatch against De Jesus negates the victory, then we can say that about EM - Pac and we can say that about Duran - SRL, because SRL manhandled Duran in their next two fights MUCH easier than Duran handled DeJesus.

Duran is a myth. I ain't buying it. He doesn't beat JCC, he doesn't beat Pea, and he doesn't beat Pac.

That fight wasnt close at all, Leonard showed Benitez exactly what boxing was that night.... I dont think you have seen this fight judging by that statement.

It would go much like Hearns-Duran...

Duran had one of the legendary chins in boxing, which is a testament to the power Hearns had in his right hand.

Pac can be hit by someone with actual boxing skill, as Cotto proved before he decided to play the role of "el Toro". Hearns cracks him with the hammer and he absolutely won't let off the gas until he's finished.

The **** it wasn't, SRL himself says it was one of his toughest fights, he had a LOT of trouble finding Benitez. I'm thinking YOU haven't seen the fight.

Duran likely beats all 3, Chavez & Pea would go the distance, Pac gets stopped, Duran would eat him up.

:lol: I think you and I have had this argument before...

Duran was a beast, bro. Plain and simple. And I never rooted for him a single time in one of his fights. But he was a beast.

I'm not saying he wasn't. I'm saying he wasn't the beastliest beast ever.

    I know, man.

I think Hearns takes him 10 times out of 10. But that was only because of the style matchup. And the fact that Hearns had speed as well as power, along with that ridiculous reach...

It might have felt tough to SRL himself but it certainly wasnt close viewing the fight as a spectator... I dont doubt Leonard`s brain must have been doing overtime to come up with moves in there to outsmart a boxer of the quality of Benitez but the bottom line is that he was miles ahead before stopping him in the last rd, he even floored him with a jab in rd 3, cut him up & refused to be countered by Wilfred when Wilfred was on the ropes in his comfort zone.
Leonard had a tougher time vs Duran in Montreal & Hearns a yr later than he did vs Benitez... that was a clear victory.

What's the verdict then? What is it that you're pointing out to me? I responded to people comparing Cotto to Roberto Duran. Anyone can clearly see the gulf in class between the two. You responded with Duran's ko loss to his contemporary and all time great Thomas Hearns. What's it about?
