You hit the nail on the head...What other challenges are their? Any fight he takes people are going to pick his opponent apart and discredit them hence the "Lose...Lose" scenario Floyd spoke of in the interview...

I think Floyd is too big a legend in his own mind to be all that angry at the attention Manny is getting. Floyd has had his interviews, his commercials, etc. But as for the rest of it, I don't feel sorry for him at all. He had YEARS to track down meaningful fights at WW, then he took two years off. We can all say for the next 25 years "Yeah, Floyd would have spanked that guy" but at the end of the day, we won't have the tape to prove it. If he's starting to regret that on some level, then it's on him to show up ready to embarrass and dismantle Manny. It's that simple.

As for what "everyone" will say, I can tell Floyd that no casual "I bought the PPV" fan I've talked to this week knows or would give two sh*ts about who Manny lost to a million years ago. All they see is this little badass Bruce Lee lookalike who comes into their homes every six months to tear some poor guy a new assh*le. Half of them think Floyd is next. If he really doesn't believe or understand this, he just needs to get out more. Nobody outside of a boxing forum is going to "discredit" a dominant win over Manny, and the people who will are jackasses.

I think your right, but its all about being on top and Floyd likes to be on top. Its his way of trying to make his case for it, but there will be people that will discredit his win, especially if its one sided, you can believe that. I dont know about the meaningful fights at welter he could have made, there wasnt that many other fights. Care to list them?

The counter-argument is in your statement. Hell of alot can change it 2 years. 2 years ago i would of predicted Cotto would beat Pac by murder!

If he hadn't retired after beating a career light welterweight?

    Cotto after the Mosley fight.

    Margarito after the Cotto fight.

    Shane after the Margarito fight.

Paul Williams after he iced Quintana.

And he probably could have stayed busy at some point against Clottey.

That's five possible, makeable, meaningful fights at 147 right there. Instead he retired and fought a blown up JMM in a formality. It's very simple, Floyd chose money over legacy. He gets a chance to rectify much of that situation against Manny, but it still doesn't put all those names on his WW ledger.

But Amir Khan has already been beaten and was brutally knocked out.

I think PBF/PAC will happen next spring and to be honest I cannot call it as it is a genuine 50/50 fight between two great fighters.

Rooney and co are a disgrace.

The Corrales fight was at 130 before he moved up to 135 to fight Castillo. Floyd already has proven to be one of the greatest of all time at 130 and 135(even if at 135 he never fought Freitas and Casamyor) The Corrales win was a dominant impressive showing. However, AFTER having the rough night with Castillo at his first fight at 135, the rematch was the last time he truly fought someone who had only a remote chance of beating him. Zab gave him trouble early on but Floyd already knew exactly what to expect from Zab when they sparred before: he starts out fast and hot but fades when his opponent doesn't back down and adjusts to what was working for him.

To prove how truly great he is as a welterweight, Floyd needs the scalps of Pacquiao, Mosley or Paul Williams(if he can still make 147) to seal his ATG legitimacy at 147 like he already has at 130 on up. Like I said before, Pac most likely will be the only one who gets the call because the other two simply don't bring enough money for the high risk they represent.

I don't buy this 'lose - lose' wxcuse that Mayweather is using. He knew FULL WELL that Marquez hadn't even fought, let alone won, within 2 divisions of where he fought PBF......OF COURSE THAT WIN WAS GOING TO BE DISCREDITED.

But the main difference between that and him fighting Pacquiao is that PACQUIAO HAS PROVED HIMSELF AT WELTERWEIGHT, and therefore PBF would get credit for the win.

It's not that ****ing difficult to understand.

Floyd seems more motivated than ever and looks like he cares bout his legacy rather than money for first time since his 130-135 days. Maybe we'll finally see the best out of Floud:)

This will be a borefest. Floyd will stink out the joint. Look at his last fight if u don't think so. Smaller guy and he still fought on the back foot. Don't expect anything different for this fight.

Indeed...I think he will get even less credit for beating Mosley...because people will point to Mosley's age...
