Pryor had a hell of a chin and recouperative abilities and stamina, thats why I wouldnt pick a Pacquaio KO, I would expect Pacquaio to hit Pryor far more often than Arguello who landed little though. I just think Pac is the better faster boxer, Pryor makes more mistakes than Pac so I see him losing more rounds. I dont think either man gets stopped
Pryor never fought the comp that Packy has....... Pryor's claim to fame is his '82 epic KO over Allie Arguello who was at 138 pounds and age 30, who also was slower than Molasses but powerful........ In 1983, Pryor basically just overwhelmed a weaker and slower Allie Arguello for a fairly one-sided beatdown......... Pryor never looked good ever again........ Packy at 140 is capable of beating Pryor in a time machine...... MR.BILL
Exactly. Forget about who fought the better opposition, Manny hasn't beaten one fighter Pryor wouldn't have beaten.
Well, Manny P. has just recently moved up to 140 - 147 since 2008................ Of course Pryor would beat Pack's past foes' at 135 and BELOW! But Packy's resume has better names / p-4-p opponents compared to Pryor............ Pryor's BIGGEST pro opponents were an ancient Tony Cervantes and a blown-up Arguello........ Hardly anybody can actually name off Pryor's title fight victims without looking them son's of bitches up in the book..... MR.BILL
Manny probably matches him for power... Its hard for current fighters to be ranked against old greats as old greats are always remembered more fondly. Fact is Pryors best assets are matched by Pacquiao and bettered in many department such as speed. I can see Pac winning comfortably on the cards or late TKO. FOTY the though..
arguello has bigger 1 punch KO power then pac, but i dont think arguello was nowhere near as fast as pac, pryor still beats him, margerito ruined cotto and hatton was never that good,
I like Pac here, Pryor had a lot of talent but Pac is the puncher here but this one would be a rough battle both had speed and power...I like Pac
depends if panama lewis is in da corner and he feels like cheating......hehehehehe ... but i think pryor
'' Exactly. Forget about who fought the better opposition, Manny hasn't beaten one fighter Pryor wouldn't have beaten'' exactly fair play i like how ur luking at it so how do u tink pac dus with arguello
I wouldn't be too sure about that. Although Arguello could still punch at 140, he never really proved he could hit as hard at that weight as Pac - Arguello's "best" stoppages were Kevin Rooney and Billy Costello, as opposed to Pac's DeLaHoya, Hatton, and Cotto. Also, Pacquiao is a quicker, sharper, and more aggressive puncher at this weight than Arguello, and his punches will be coming from more problematic angles than Arguello's. Moreover, Pryor will have more trouble going "shot to shot" with Manny as he'll likely find it harder to land with consistency on Manny as he did with Arguello. Arguello (as was Cervantes, Pryor's other high quality opponent) was a slower, standup, somewhat immobile(at this stage of his career) target, whereas Pac is fast all around and can dance on his toes. In a nutshell, Pryor will likely have more difficulty landing on Pac than he did Arguello, while he himself will be more open to Pac's powerpunches.
Rooney was out cold with one shot, Castillo was down and finished by a single right hand shot himself. Arguello carried his power up just fine, even if those two aforementioned fighters were not exactly world beaters. Like Ray Leonard said during the Arguello/Pryor fight, "I can't imagine any fighter taking those punches without going down". Alexis landed those absolute bombs about as flush as humanly possible, and Pryor walked through them. People say Alexis was past it, but there's no question in my mind that the Arguello of that night beats a lot of former 140lbs champions. Arguello was more static, but let's not build up Manny to be elusive. He isn't. Cotto was landing a lot of shots on him, and of course, Marquez, who does not have fast hands, was also able to land enough to win more rounds than Pacquiao over two full 12 round fights. Pryor was a great boxer, and he was notoriously tough, he'd land on Pacquiao often enough to win rounds, and he'd also do it enough to hurt Manny in my judgment. Would he land as often as he did against Arguello? No. Would he have difficulty landing? Absolutely not, Pacquiao is not a great defensive fighter, and I feel this fight is won and lost on Pryors superior stamina and his toughness, which was never ever in question despite taking flush shots, time and time again, from one of the greatest punchers of all time. Sure, it was up at 140lbs, but the way in which Rooney was shut down, you'd have to assume Alexis maintained a lot of his power.
