Still in shock at Pac letting Cotto tee off on him, and looking indestructible...

I tipped Manny to win by late stoppage, and as usual I was right when it comes to Pac fights, but I did not expect Manny to stand straight up in front of Cotto and allow him to tee off on Pac's body and head, just to prove to the doubters that he has a granite chin and an iron body.

    But prove it he did.

There were rounds that looked like an intense battleground, but while Cotto was tottering back to his corner with a face like a smashed melon, Manny was strolling back to his with a huge grin on his face.

He wasn't hurt, and he wasn't just coping... he was loving every minute of it! He hurt his ear, his face got bruised, but at no point did he wobble, at no point did he look hurt at all.

I haven't been so impressed by a show of punch resilience since Toney-Peter I. But Saturday may even have eclipsed that fight for me, because Toney was slipping most of Peter's uncultured swings, whereas Pac was purposefully allowing Cotto to tee off just to show he could eat up the best that the welterweight could offer, and then fire back with his own superior arsenal.

    - How do you rate Saturday as a display of punch resistance?
    - And when was the last time you have been more impressed by a fighter's resilience?

When cotto landed his flush left hook to the body of manny, and manny tapped his gloves came forward and hit cotto with about 4 punches, cotto must have been thinking 'oh ****'.

The most impressive thing about the punch resistance is that, the smaller guy was taking the bigger guy's best shots and the bigger guy crumbled against the smaller guy's best shots.

I mean, Margo took all of Cotto's shots but Margo was larger than Cotto so while it was impressive, everyone sort of knew that would be one of Margo's advantages ...

But Pac... wow, the guy never fails to surprise me by showing something I totally did not expect. After that Hatton fight, I thought I was prepared for anything to happen, but I didn't expect to see Pac take those shots like that...

Was Cotto weight drained, I don't know. But, Manny showed what a monster he is.

Didnt look weight drained and was still countering manny pretty effectively at the end. Manny was just too good.

True, he may lose all these fantasy match-ups, but they would all be wars, that I'm sure of.

He said in a espn interview that his Cotto's punch were very strong but he didnt want to show him that they were hurting him. He was trying to show him he was strong mentally.

Pacquiao was likely hurt and/or immobilized on several occasions. He repeated that he had in fact been hurt over and over in post fight interviews and at the post fight press conference. Pacquiao was willing to go through a significant amount of discomfort for victory. That's not something Cotto could bring himself to do. Pacquiao beat Cotto mentally, then he beat him physically.

I guess that's where all those stick beatings come in to play.

    On the ball here mate!

When you beat someone mentally naturally they feel weaken physically and that's what happened to cotto unfortunatley

Pacquiao was not wobbled, staggered, looking groggy or glass-eyed at any time. He was firmly in control of himself at all times, he was never hurt to the point that it was visible. And this was despite him standing straight up in front of Cotto numerous times, inviting the punches. It was just bizarre and brilliant.
