did any1 feel a little bit let down by cotto?

im not trying to take anything away from a huge an very dominating win away from manny,but in the 4 round cotto started to use his jab very well untill the red mist came down and he went down.

also on a side note, im a huge shane fan but can shane keep up with this power and speed shane showed he still has the power plus we could have a nazim and roach battle as well.

Not let down by him but by his team. I thought this would be an even/close fight. Cotto had no gameplan vs Pac, and it showed. His corner had no answer or direction for him to adjust. They relied on Cotto to just be Cotto in order to pull this out. Wrong time to not have a corner vs a fighter and trainer combo of Pac/Roach.

 

yea. he did change his tactic near the end of running away but once the bigger man started running away from the smaller man we all knew it was over.

 

Just a quick side question... Ive watched the fight twice and to me he didn't seem to use his right hand much. I know he's left handed, but he seemed to be looking for the left hook/ uppercut all night. Did he hurt his right hand? Apologies if this has been covered.

To answer your question, I don't feel let down by him no. Pac surprised me with his power at the weight. No doubt he surprised Cotto too.

 

I felt a little let down when Cotto started running to avoid the inevitable.

 

thats one of the best cotto i've seen... faster than i thought. He was Huge compare to pac...

 

I think the only thing that he can be faulted for is for becoming undisciplined for a short time and getting drawn into wild exchanges with Pacman. Pac will always win those. He should've stayed with the jab, it was working well up to that point. It's what led to the 4th round, fight changing right hook. I think if he hadn't done that, he would have had a much better shot. But you know what they say about ifs.

 

no i don't feel let down. i will say i was screaming at the tv for him to cut the ring off and follow up some of those crips jabs he was landing. he just seemed to pop one off and then just stand in the middle of the ring instead of trying to move in afterwards. but he fought like a champ and didnt quit. much respect for cotto. i'm upset the second half of the the fight (well from round 4 and after) wasnt more competitive, but not let down.

 

Nah not let down at all...Pac suprised me and I wasnt in the ring with him.
I was so sure that when Pac gets touched by Cotto he would fold (Im sure Cotto thought that aswell) boy did Manny prove us wrong sadly...

 

That is where his corner came to be at fault. Should have had gameplan to do everything to avoid this. They kept thinking Cotto was bigger and stronger and that would neutralize Pac speed. When that wasnt the case, what did the corner have to tell Cotto? Nothing. His trainer was an assitant for the past several years for a reason. This wasnt going to be the kind of fight that the talent of your fighter can cover your lack of experience as a trainer.

 

I know it's not his style, but I thought Cotto would utilize his size advantage by man-handling Pacquiao more by throwing him around. Since it was obvious he wasn't a better boxer, he could have resorted to wrestling in the later rounds. I would have rather seen that than him running around the ring avoiding contact.

 

Yes I was let down. Cotto is a brave man but needed a better gameplan/plans and a more experienced trainer. Nazim would be a great fit for him.

 

Im not let down at all. As I watched the fight I realized cotto was fighting very well and could have beaten almost anyone else with the combinations movement he was employing however pacman was just that good that it didnt matter.

 

not one damn bit i was a fan before i'm a fan now .. dude is my all time favorite
