Paulie picked Cotto to win by stoppage, based on his fights with both Hatton and Cotto. Why he didnt pick Pac considering Hatton stopped him and was completely outclassed by Pac, I have no idea. But now what are we to think of Paulies skills? He is often touted as such a fast/technically skilled boxer. The guy was beaten by an "unskilled brawling" Hatton, and destroyed by a "technically sound" Cotto. Also, what does that make Pacman now that he completely outclassed both these guys and is supposedly only 1-dimensional and fast? I think Paulie should be Pacs farewell fight. It will definitely be Paulies last fight he if dares to step in that ring if ever offered the opportunity.
Hatton is another - claimed on Friday night after being flattened twice in the first round that there was absolutely no doubt he was ahead in the 2nd before being caught, as if he got hit with a lucky blow. You got smashed, Ricky. Utterly annihilated, to the point I was genuinely worried for your long-term health as you lay on the canvas gagging, gasping for breath, medical teams upon you. My lasting memory of that bout... This content is protected
I've never been convinced about Paulie being a great technical fighter. Always dumbfounded me as why he had that reputation (maybe his speed and the Magic Man moniker had something to do with it). I remember copping alot of stick for saying Hatton would outclass him, which was exactly what happened. The fact Hatton easily outboxed him without having to resort to any holding shows exactly where Paulie's skill level lies. Ironically, Paulie is more of the club level fighter he accused Hatton of being. He's fast, and got a tonne of heart (though he didn't show much in the Hatton fight with all the hugging, refusing to fight)..but he just doesn't have what it takes to be top class. He would be a tune up for Pac, nothing more. Doubt Pac would waste his time with such a non-fight. Doubt he will be allowed to. He only has 1-2 fights left most probably.
