Dont forget Cowardweather also ducked Cotto last April and Ellerbe said in the interview Cotto just wasn't a big enough name yet. This was around the time of the Gomez fight. so no Cowardwather says Cotto is a big name. What a turd.
according to another sight, the pac-cotto fight " generated approximately 2 million pay-per-view" buys WOW I never doubted the "health" of boxing and never really thought it was a dying sport Imagine what pac-money or money-pac will do on the PPV!!!
if the PPV buys do reach 2M, negotiations between the promoters will be...HELL I cant imagine floyd taking a smaller share...the same for pac. The promoters better start early!
People keep comparing the numbers between their common fights which is a mistake. 1-2 years ago doesnt seem like a lot, but the fact is Pacuiqao's drawing power is a lot more than it was 1-2 years ago, and keeps rising each big fight he makes. For example compare a Pac-Mayweather ppv buy rate if it happened 2 years ago after the marquez fight versus a Pac-Mayweather ppv buy rate if a fight were to happen now.. It'd be at least 2x as much... On topic if arum says it's 1.4m most likely it'll be closer to 1.1m. He always exaggerates his numbers, but we'll see.
This should be 50/50...in all aspects! gate, ppv, etc... lets see which fighter will agree to this, cause it will really f*ck boxing if it didnt happen.
Arum jumped the gun in Pac's last fight with Hatton and commented that they had done over 1.5 million, when in fact it did about half of that. They still have'nt announced the official numbers for that fight, the guesstimates have been that it did under 800K..... ....it took about a week to get the PPV numbers for JMM-Mayweather..... ....but something smells fishy to me about this Pacquiao-Cotto event.....Lampley on the fight telecast was already saying it had done well over a million buys....when was the last time that a broadcast crew was pulling out PPV buy rates before a fight had even come to its completion???:think Like I said, it smells fishy to me, and it may be one of those circumstances where they announce that the fight did in excess of 1 million no matter what the buy rate was. .......certainly if this fight did better than Mayweather's fight with Cotto, its grounds for the Pacquiao team to make certain financial demands at the negotiating table.
Satellite numbers can be calculated within the hours. Its the cable On Demand that takes a long tome. Maybe the Satellite providers gave them their numbers already. Besides that . What does HBO gain by lieing about Pac having big numbers? The higher the numbers the more they have to pay out.
Forgive me to butt in but Arum overstating the PPVs from the actual figures doesn't make sense in that it would mean his miserly asz would have to foot the extra bill on the fixed percentages that the fighters would have to receive from the PPV pie. If anything, plain business logic and Arum's renowned shrewdness would rather prefer to understate the PPVs so as to maximize profit... I see this fight from all early indicators reaching 1.5-2m buys... And the Pac-PBF negotiations would get even more ****ed up. :dead
