Arum perhaps got carried away with his emotions to outdo the May-Hatton numbers at that particular moment, so as to gain negotiation leverage for the subsequent Pac-May proposition? We have to take into account that Arum and PBF hated each other with a passion and each one would love to outmaneuver each other in the money and psychological game...

A second angle is Pac and Cotto are both under his TR outfit while Pac-Hatton is a joint venture with GBP. Overstating the PPV now of a bestseller this magnitude would mean he had to bear the bloated numbers alone, doesn't it? ;)

It's pure conjecture though on my part, howbeit logical. You have to ask Arum personally yourself. :good

:lol::lol::lol:It turned out that an anonomys source at GBP leaked it out that Pac-Hatton had done about 800K.....

GBP wanted the numbers made public......but it was Arum and Top Rank who had the lead in promoting that Pac-Hatton fight, and so ultimately it was Arum's call on whether to officially release the PPV buys, and he chose not too.:lol::lol:

The thing here with Arum is that he's been preaching since the DLH fight that Pacquiao is the biggest draw in boxing.....so obviously there was pressure on him to have Manny vs Hatton do better than Mayweather-Hatton.

......Arum is still preaching that Pacquiao is the biggest draw, yet the numbers bear that its Mayweather who sells more PPV.

^^ this dude just flat out doesn't like Pac. One guy says that a reporter misquoted Arum, but he completely ignores him. Then another guy says that perhaps Arum got carried away with his emotions (wtf) to outdo Mayweather vs Hatton, and he immediately quotes him.

Then he says that Pac-Hatton did about 800K, when the figure that came out is closer to 850K. You might at well say 900K while you're at it, but no that wouldn't work would it.

There we are again, debating about PPV numbers.

Who cares if the PPV numbers is 5 mmillion if it is a snorefest. Evene if there were only 10,000 people who paid PPV for the Pac-Cotto fight, but those are 10,000 satisfied customers.

The fact alone that Pac-Cotto, which are both non-Americans and speak broken English, making 1m in american ppv is a victory in itself. If that fight can outsell May-JMM, then non-American Pac has a serious claim to the PPV drawership--even a victory in Floyd's homecourt/market. Pac isn't the face of boxing right now for nothing.

...the point being that (except for rare and exceptional occasions) it is more logical and normative to downgrade than to bloat ppv numbers from a promoter's pov as i have already earlier pointed out. 1.5-2m it is... :happy:yep

...a death-blow to the "boxing is dead" mantra. :happy:happy:happy

Dude the people pay to see DLH and Hatton fight FLOYD. Sure it may be their fan bases, but they came to see FLOYD get whooped by their idols. Which btw didnt happen.

If those numbers are represenative of the opponents then why aren't they reflected in thier vs Pac fights.

Most people will be paying to see Mayweather lose.

    Hey, I just found that

    http://www.boxing scene.com/?m=show&id=19759

Top Rank's Bob Arum, who promotes Pacquiao says, the early numbers appear to be heading to a huge buyrate between 1.6 and 2 million, Arum told USA Today.

It's about Pac - Hatton which turned out to be 810 K :yep And Floyd - Hatton did 1,5 million in UK only.

So if this time he says 1,3-1,4...
