True that, judging by Graham's appearance on the Hatton-Pacquiao 24/7 he seems to agree with the perception people on here have that Hatton has disappeared up his own arse.
Hatton needs to sack his advisors. He's becoming such a deluded clown. He has nothing to prove in world boxing, after two heavy HEAVY losses. His profile in the USA was built and swiftly knocked down in the blink of an eye. He struggled against mediocre guys over there like Collazo..in his prime...Marquez is an even tougher prospect. and who is even gonna buy this fight? Hatton can't sell this to Sun readers like he used to. These are the people who paid £15 to see him KOd in two rounds, and mocked him for weeks afterwards. Everyone knows he's an average boxer now...very well marketed by Sky and tabloid papers. And in the fight, I see him getting beaten too. He needed to use the excuse to wind down and focus on the Khan and Witter questions in domestic boxing. Use the excuse that Mayweather and Pacquiao are two of the greatest pound for pound fighters of their generation, if not across history. Get out with dignity and respect, rather than sucked back in (against dangerous opponents) well beyond his best days. Instead he will end up spluttering out his career with losses, damaging his value and worth...not only in the eyes of the people but in market value/PPVs too. Not that I really care to be honest.
i want marquez to get this fight. he deserves the pay day and it should be a good win if it goes to plan. i think marquez is just too clever a boxer for ricky to hurt, and with marquez knocking out joel casamayor i can see him doing the same to ricky. there was some stuped argument on the radio before that hatton is a 'great' because he won a world title. people who know nothing about boxing should be banned from talking about it.
that's true. a friend of mine said that Mayweather deserved the majority of a potential PBF/Pac fight purse because 'Pacquiao has been KOd twice, Mayweather is unbeaten'. I said yeah, but Mayweather is widely regarded as handpicking his opponents, avoiding dangerous fighters, retiring on a whim and only coming out for specific fights. I said Floyd's fights have been determined by the potential of the sales rather than eye catching title clashes, a lot of them he has won unconvincingly, and he's not very popular with the fans. I said Pacquiao is taking on everyone around him and destroying them, KOing them sensationally...a much bigger sensation than Mayweather ever was at welterweight. And his KO losses were light years ago from the fighter he is today. He also has millions and millions of Filipinos watching his every fight...unlike Floyd. He said i don't know about that, but Floyd is unbeaten. Pacquiao has been beaten so he should get the minority share. I was just like FFS shut up. *I'll probably get a PM from Mayweather Productions now looking to hire him for their negotiating team.
well the argument that your mate made was a bad one, but yours wasn't much better. pacquiao has handpicked his opponents through the weights. david diaz was a hand picked opponent when manny would have got a lot more credit fighting nate campbell to become the undisputed lightweight champion, but he chose the D-Level fighter. delahoya was handpicked, he would have got a lot more credit beating someone like mosley at 147 rather than someone who hadn't made the weight for 9 years. ricky was finished and was seen as an easy fight, he could have given marquez the fight who deserved it having been robbed in the second of their fights, and coming of 2 stunning knockout victories. i'll give you that pac has had the better fights, but thats because they've been close. pac is someone who stands toe-toe wheras mayweather is a defensive master. his fights against corrales, gatti and judah were exciting though. i would say mayweather has had 1 disputed win over castillo, and manny got very lucky in the second marquez fight. pac has millions of phillipinos watching, floyd has the whole world watching him!
This might ACTUALLY happen! http://www.sportinglife.com/boxing/news/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=boxing/09/11/18/BOXING_Hatton.html# At first I assumed it was just Schaefer talking about a potential fight but now he's saying he's actually talked with the Hatton's and they want it. I think Marquez will win this, late stoppage most likely.
Baby Bull was giving JMM trouble early on, maybe Hatton can do the same. Considering the baterings Pac gave to Oscar, Cotto and Diaz and the clinic Floyd gave JMM (A JMM who showed he could compete around the weight with J Diaz), I'm surprised people are so harsh to Hatton for losing to Pac and Floyd. Sure Hatton was never in those fights, but nither were JMM, Oscar (who got humiliated), or Cotto (who did the best against pac around this weight, but the fight was over after round 4 - he got knocked down twice, failed to make 12, and came out a bloody pulp). I think Hattons punch resistance is probably not as good as it was, but looking back he was eating punches non stop in that fight. I think that fight may well have turned out the same any time in Hattons career.
If this (as I suspect it will be) is a catchweight at say 142/143 then Hatton has a good chance. I may put money on him winning if the odss are worth it
Yeah I agree after watching the recent Mayweather and Pacquiao victories, I think is way too criticized for his two losses. Mayweather if he stepped up a gear could have stopped Marquez and even the Pacquiao team after the Cotto win said he took mercy on Cotto.
Big Ricky Hatton fan, but the more I think about it, Hattons best chance to win this fight would be to bulldoze JMM outa there in the way Diaz tried but more sustained and with angles. If Ricky try's to box this fella he takes a career ending,Cotto style beating IMO. JMM would be way to clever if he was alowed to get his rythm going. This is way he needs to go back, beenie hat in hand, and beg Billy and Kerry to come back. Tried and tested.
I suppose it looks like at least he's going for a credible opponent, he could have fought anyone in Manchester as a "farewell fight" (horrible term!!) and made his money.
