Rumours of Pac homecoming fight, Manila, April 2010, vs Joan Guzman at 140!

A friend of mine works in Vegas, and he says the talk after Saturday was of Manny Pacquiao wanting to have a fight in the Philippines before he fights Mayweather.

Apparently Pac is desperate to have a big fight in his homeland before he retires, and views Guzman as a good opponent in preparation for Floyd.

It makes sense I suppose. Has anyone else heard this rumour?

Good idea? Bad idea? What's your thoughts?

I dont think that fight will happen Guzman isnt an Arum fighter and hes a big risk low reward fighter.

I think a fight with the commie midget Valero who is coming of two great wins over his mother and sister is a much bigger possibility and hes also an Arum fighter.

That would be an amazing fight and a great test of styles.

I don't see why he can't have a big farewell fight AFTER Floyd, win or lose.

But Guzman would be the perfect sparring partner for Pac's fight against the cherrypicker.

There is talk that Pac will take an in-between fight, in March or April, before he fights Floyd. I heard that, too.

This makes a lot of sense. Guzman is great preparation for Floyd Mayweather.

But Guzman is really good, imagine if Joan upsets Manny!

Not saying that it would happen but stranger things have happened.

I would pick Manny by late KO to win.

Hmmm very unlikely. Guzman for as much as i hate him would make PAc look really bad even in losing. Not a fight u want to use o generate buzz before a mega fight with PBF.
I agree with the other guy who said a fight with Valero. Definately one where he will face a feared puncher with no defense who will definately be a highlight reel KO.

Didn't Arum say he doesn't want him to fight anyone else in between because it would slow down boxing's "momentum"?

I'm sorry but this fight shouldn't happen, it's too risky. Guzman is extremely fast, slick, and has a good style comparable to Floyd, one of the best sparring partners for Pac's preparation, but there is NO WAY he should fight Joan before Mayweather.

Unless of course he wants to possibly lose the Mayweather fight before it happens.
