:bbbi can understand if duran beat srl, hagler and hearns. but he didnt. not only why is he ahead of pac man, but why is he esteemed so high on that list, if he didnt even beat the best in his era??? ok, he beat srl once, thats it. if thats the standard, im sorry. to me thats not enough. i can look at pacs accomplishments and understand why people esteem him so high--and rightfully so. people have a legit argument, given his dominance the last few years. but when i look at durans and what hes done and hasnt done, it makes no sense to me. is there a double standard here?? whatever the standard is 4 one, it should be 4 all. u cant drop the bar for one fighter and then raise it 4 the next fighter cause u like or dislike him.

Pacquaio will probably be way higher years after he retires...people don't appreciate/rate them high until they r gone from the sport, well gone from inside the ring at least. I'll prolly get hate for this, but to me duran is overrated, he was still a great fighter tho, just a little overrated IMO

Duran had 120 professional fights. You have to factor in durability and total number of fights into the equation when you talk about all time greats. Pac wont even get to half that number.

What!?!? the fighter that duran beat kills anyone on Pac resume.. I doubt Pac would make it out of the third round against hearns or marvin.

this is correct. ali wasn't even rated in the top 10 by boxing historians while he was fighting.
the computer that had him losing to marciano also had him losing to james jeffries.
sports historians always tend to look more fondly on guys from the past. the accolades that pac and even mayweather get are impressive given this trend.
but yea, i think that ultimately pac will be viewed as better than duran. but thats just me.

just look at duran up until he moved up from lightweight, It can be quite easily argued he was the greatest lightweight ever. He was also first person to beat srl. won world titles in 4 weight classes when there was only two belts in each and fewer weights. Not forgetting only fighter to fight in 5 different decades. This is why hes one of the greatest of all time

Because he was at his best at lightweight and ruled that division for almost 7 years, before moving up in weight, past his prime.

Yep, he probably doesn't make it out of the third round against Holyfield either, which I'm guessing to you makes John Ruiz a much better p4p fighter than Pac.
