Because Pac is still fighting. This version of Pac makes Duran look like Ricky Hatton. In time, most will recognize Pac as one of the greatest of all time.

If you're talking of the official ATG list . . . because Duran is already retired and has long established his name in the sport. Pacquiao has just accomplished great things only these last two years. If ever . . . it will take time before any changes in that ATG list happens.

If your talking of individual or personnal ATG lists . . . well that's their personnal choices, leanings or prefferences.

Theoretically. There weren't any monster lightweights around for him to beat, and he got beat by DeJesus. Pac's record at LW and below is far more impressive in terms of who he fought and beat.

Because Duran is the greatest Lightweight ever. And anything he did after was just butter. Pacquiao is a great fighter but he isn't synonymous with one weight class.

look my argument is this: pac beat the best in his day, thus far....and still going! duran hasnt beaten the best in his day, i.e. the names mentioned already. AGAIN, IF HE BEATS THOSE NAMES I MENTIONED, THAN I CAN UNDERSTAND THAT. but he didnt. those 3 names are atg's. to me, thats like pac man losing to oscar, hatton and cotto (or any other name u wanna throw in the equation), and people still try 2 name him one of the top 20 atg. thats ridiculous. i would be the first one to dispute that.:huh

    Is this serious??

    - Duran won the 135 title in 1972, and the 160 title in 1989.

    - He started out as a bantam or superbantam in the 60s, and had his last meaningful win at supermiddle in the 90s.

    - He was one of the ATG champions in one of the traditional and strongest weight classes, going 71-1 through the 70s and cleaning out the lw division.

    - He owns perhaps the greatest single win in the history of boxing, his golden win over Ray Leonard at ww in 1980.

    Should I go on?

Duran is one of the top 6 or 7 fighters in history, he is on a different level to Pac, and this is coming from a huge Pacquiao fan.

    Get a ****ing grip.

You mean this version of Pac against the current version of Duran?

Well I'd say Floyd might be his Leonard, if that fight happens and he beats him

A few months ago, somebody asked Roach who he thought would win between Pac or Duran, his answer was Duran.

Because before he was taking on these ATGs, he was already established as the greatest Lightweight ever. What he did after that was just gravy..That's the offical excuse anyway.

They count his win over Leonard as the greatest win ever, and wins over Palamino, Cuevas, Barkley and Moore as great. But they totally disregard the losses in between, completely forgiving the quit job in the Leonard rematch and the embarrassing defeats.

I find it peculiar that they use him fighting in 5 decades and being competitive, and winning a middleweight title at an advanced age (an incredible 17 years after winning the lightweight belt) to enhance his greatness, but don't count ANY of his losses against him in that time.
