why do people put duran ahead of pac on atg list???

We don't have to. We had featherweights and lightweights on the level of Hearns, Benitez et al that Pac fought and beat.

Duran gets waaaay too much credit for fighting at WW, considering he was in good shape at middleweight. Obviously WW was NOT an unnatural weight class for him considering he fought as high as 170, and rarely made the LW limit even when he ruled the division. Pacquiao started at a lower weight and stayed below featherweight MUCH longer than Duran. He's not nearly as capable of climbing into the middleweight division as Duran.

Barrera- great fighter OF HIS TIME, but not even close to the guys duran fought, you must think Kennedy McKinney is an atg too huh.:nut

Morales- on the same level with barerra and when pac beat morales, he already had been embarrassed by Zahir Raheem. oh yeah, you must think Raheem is an atg too.:verysad

Marquez- this is the best fighter pac has fought and he still dosent rank anyway near the aforementioned fighters that duran fought, and marquez arguably beat Pac TWICE.:deal

They are both very succesful in weight jumping.

Duran was able to win a belt from Iran Barkley when he was 39. Barkley was no Hagler but he was prime and much bigger. Pac has not done this.

Duran cleaned the Lightweight division, and then has important wins over Leonard and Benitez.

Is that enough to rank him above Pac, a man who has beat Barrera, Morales, Marquez, Larios, De la Hoya, Hatton and Cotto? I think that yes. I rank Duran in the Top5 ATG, and Pac in the Top15.

 

All three of them are better than Hearns and Hagler, a step behind SRL. Also all three of them are better than anyone Duran ever beat aside from SRL.

No. He has no important win over Benitez. Why are you posting? Barkley wasn't that special, he has a lot of losses, before and after Duran, to some pretty mediocre fighters. Duran's last dozen or so fights before Barkley were at or near the MW limit, he was well accustomed and grown into that weight.
