Young looked good early in his career but the KO to McNeil put's massive doubt over his chin, considering McNeil is not a hitter, but a few fighters have suffered bad KO's early and still gone on to good things.
cookieluv i dont no where you got your information but it was gary mac that caused the cut he head butted young that why he got a warning also there where atleast three hundred that agreed with result plus his manager the press the supporter of young and a lot of other pro trainners and managers so it was only labc that think young got beat bearing in mind they are his club like 330 hundred young supporter but the man that mattered thought young one paul graham now dont wish the macmillian boy any harm but he talked if he was going to stop young in three round and said to the press his word no one in la can believe that gary young is even contingplating going in the ring with you as he rubbish and you are great and i think he actaully believed the **** that comes from his mouth he is and will always be a good club boxer look at his record 11 bout 9 win 1 draw 2 losses is this world championship boxer i think not he had atleast three decision that he got when indeed lossed so let not get carried away about this result ,now lets look at young record 18 w i loss knocked out 8 got knocked outt by colin mcneil class act had one fight since beat david kirk with one had for seven rounds as he broke his right hand never boxed for over two year comes straight into 10 round fight win fair and sqaure yet about four poster think it a robbery . here a question for you cookieluv why would there be a conspirece for young basically a rubbish fighter when mister wonderful is getting the promotor major sponsors and the home fighter and sell lots of tickets so they say and why would the press not shout from the roof tops it a robbery as i sure sensational story sell better not one member of the press thought mac won or the stewards only macmillian allegend supporters thought it was a robbery i from Gilmerton and seen a spocken to a lot of them since and they agreed that young won and thought macmillian was scared to have a go as he told them young does hit hard i like young mac but since he whent to terry mac he has turned into a big mouth bad mouth his opponents telling them young finished i am the new kid on the block well no what young back and going places where mac will always be another journey man an under card boxer who feared to go in where it hurts. by the way i new him when he trainned in gilmerton won gb title whent to labc and lost all his amatuer titles maybe that why he went pro as to embarrished to go back to gilmerton the grass is not always greener on the other side name one scottish champion from labc that starred there and not either gilmerton lieth vic please feel free to post the answer cookieluv because i can name four gilmerton boxers that gone there and lost there titles john thain tommy philbin steven tiffney and i add this one as well josh taylor because he will end up pro before the scottish
Thats some post! but McMillan was on his bike all night spoiling holding using his head, you dont win fights that way. But Gary Young give him a rematch and shut his face by KO.
To be honest, theres a lot of Young arse licking going on in this thread & a lot of McMillan bashing! As I said before, I watched the fight as a true neutral, a scottish boxing fan just wanting to enjoy a good scrap. & I came away giving Young a solitary round. At a push, I could be generous & say Young could have nicked the first also, & thats me being generous to Young. Two rounds to Young at the most. everyone is going on about McMillan being dirty with the head & holding, therefore I must have been imagining things when Young got a severe ticking off from the ref for a blatant headbutt(Young should have had a point deducted) McMillan also battered Young in the second, I thought Young was in danger of being stopped. McMillan scored with the jab all night long too, Young just kept plodding forward, being jabbed & countered all night. Be honest here guys, I know people here dont like the McMillan lad for whatever reasons, but put the local rivalries aside & give the McMillan boy some credit & admit he beat Young on the night.:deal
Still sore Macdaddy, but I just couldnt bear to miss the boxing, so like the trooper I am I made it, but it was a **** going up all those stairs to the balcony:twisted: Steepest ****in seats I been in in all my life:scaredas: Great view though
Fact - McMillan did not and has never fought as an amateur with Lochend ABC. Lochend ABC was formed in July 2007. Gary Mc turned pro in Nov 2006, long before LABC was formed. Please when posting information at least get it correct. With regards to the other fighters mentioned who moved from Gilmerton to Lochend ABC, it is their perrogative to train where they want. Its a fact of life, people's loyalties change. From what I am led to believe 2 of the fighters mentioned previously boxed for Leith Vic, I doubt very much it was that big of an issue when they moved clubs ! As I say people move on, circumstances change.
cookieluv once again i dont know where you get your information in the last to season gilmerton have had 6 easter district titles three scottish title two GB champions and beaten three finalists in gb championships four gold medals at internationals all over the world and 6 silver medal all over the world so please feel free to mention labc titles that there club won there nothing wrong with gilmerton club as said before i from gilmerton and i am sure like you i support my local club
It's irrelavent what people say on this... Paul Graham gave the RESULT to Gary Young Alex Morrison gave Young the result! Jim Black a sports Jounalist gave it to Young Why bother any more on this result.. clearly no-one on this forum is Neutral.. McMillans fans are clearly upset that HE didn't win! But he predicted a K.O - so he really didnt step up to the plate did he ? and Youngs loyal fans are clearly going to back him all the way... this forum is filled with keyboard gangsters and people who voice opinions, but are un-accomplished and were more than likely watching sunday nights fight via beer goggles.. if the fight was recorded im sure none of this keyboard net war would be taking place,. a well respected ref called it! Young By 1 Round - not by a landslide!! and not a great fight - but it's not the end of either fighters career.. if a rematch takes place and young was to stop mcmillan - he'd then have his 3rd loss and would be looking at a possible career end.. so careful what he wishes for..
Facts regarding ex Gilmerton fighters who switched to LABC and supposedly lost their titles. Tommy Philbin did not come to LABC as a Scottish Champion he lost it whilst at Gilmerton - he did not hold a title to lose when he entered the Scottish Champs in 2009. Likewise Stephen Tiffney was not a Scottish Champion when he joined LABC, he has not yet entered the Scottish Championships since joining LABC. John Thain entered Scottish Championship as the current champion, yes he lost his title (due to the fight being stopped because of a bloody nose which was caused by a head knock). Whilst you are ponitificating about Josh Taylor, he will not be turning pro any time soon and LABC want to take this opportunity to congratulate him on his latest gold medal victory on international duty, along with securing best technical boxer. Please can you get your facts correct before trying to berate LABC. LABC was formed a little over 2 years ago. It is run by a good team, committee and its volunteers. LABC will continue to help improve and develop young fighters who wish to be apart of its club. Any fighter who has transferred to this club has done so of their own accord, if anyone has a problem with this - maybe they should ask the fighters who have why ?!
Was at the fight on Sunday supporting Mcmillan and have to say I had only 2 rounds even the rest to G Mac. Thought G Young looked in great shape and would never have known he had been out the ring for 2 Years. Should there be a rematch I would predict G Mac to fight a different fight, as Im sure he and his team must have realised G Young had no anwer to his long range punching. If G Mac kept it at range Youngs frustration would eventually leave gaps and I would predict a late round stoppage. Thats the first time G Mac has done 10 rounds and he looked like he still had plenty in the tank. That is only the 2nd time I have seen G Mac boxing, the last time was his 2nd bout where I have to say I thought he was very fortunate to get a draw. In essence I am just calling it as I see it. Its all about opinions guys. For the record I am also from Gilmerton and have met Gary Young when he worked at the local gym and he seemed a nice enough bloke. Know G Mac a bit better though :smooch:hey
Unless it's the new boys you're on about, some of the guys who have posted on this thread know their scottish boxing inside out. Everyone has an opinion and sometimes you won't like it.
:happyWell done bud, great reply there. Your totally correct, some folk dont like what they read, and think if we do not agree with their opinion that we are full of shite. atsch
