Gary Young to take on Gary McMillan

I am 1 of the new boys as you put it.
I know you didnt say it, but can assure you I only had 1 pint prior to the fight so vision was clear.
Did box at a fair level all be it amateur.
I scored The previous four bouts on the card in my programme and of the three that went the distance I was 1 point out as per the referees card.
That certainly dosent make me a referee but like to think it dont make me a muppet or keyboard gangster either.
I am wise enough to know that watching a bout while haveing a personal interest does tend to make you slightly biased but I am afraid nothing will convince me Gary Young won that fight.
As you so rightly said its all about opinions bud and this is no way an attack on any individual, most definately not you

 

A rematch would be the sportsmans way doing things. Unfortunately the word sportsman/sportsperson is neither in Mr Youngs vocabulary or his should I say rather "bent" management:happy.

I will however commend a very talented up and coming boxer Chris "Badger" Hughes. Glad to see his fans in full voice as usual. :good

 

Boxing: Young vetoes Gary McMillan return

GILMERTON'S newly-crowned Scottish welterweight champion Gary Young has vetoed the prospect of an immediate rematch with Lochend rival Gary McMillan, writes BRIAN DONALD.

Young narrowly outpointed his Capital rival in Glasgow at the weekend for the vacant Scottish 10st 7lb title.

There were calls for a rematch from the McMillan camp but Young said: "Normally, I would have no problem at all with accommodating McMillan.

"My coach, ex-world champion Paul Weir, has turned down an attractive offer for me to box in a couple of weeks time down in England and the offer of an even bigger fight for January is in the pipeline.

"That would do more to advance my career than any return bout with McMillan would.

"For me that's the name of the game now, given I'm approaching the veteran stage, my priority is to do what is best for Gary Young."

Oops seen that 1 coming.
Have to agree with Gary Young on this one.
Proves he knows he never won that fight and as frustrating as it will be for Mcmillan there was never a chance he was going to take that fight again.
Would like to have seen it happen, and wish Young all the best in his career, but dont think a British title will be an option any time soon as alluded to by a previous poster.
For the record think next year might be a wee bit too soon for Gary Mac also, but if he progresses as he has over the last 2 years 2011 could be a big year for him.

 

yup, Young got a gift & he knows it, he must be taking lessons from Tyson Fury when he got a gift win over Big John McDermott & talked himself out of a rematch. Now Youngs up to the same tricks:-(

If yer reading Gary Young, be a man & give the kid his rematch. Its the least he deserves after you stuck the head into him Gomez style when you entered the ring. Wheres that toughguy attitude now?
