I'm not saying he's ducking everyone. All I'm saying is that the man who professes to be the GOAT should fight a man from the top two in his own weight class. Is that too much to ask?

GrovesvsDeGale's spins it better than Shane Warne. Bottom line is at welterweight he's fought Baldomir (okay it was for the lineal title), Judah, Mitchell and Hatton. He could have fought... Williams, Margarito, Cotto, Mosley and now there is the chance to fight Pacman. All those fighters are better than the ones he's fought at welterweight. Nobody denies he's a great fighter or that he doesn't have a great record pre-welterweight but he's taken the easy road and cherrypicked the easier fights here, and then 'retired' to get the hell outta there while it was hot.
Atleast Mayweather fights guys at thier weights... Oscar De La Hoya had to come down to 147, a weight he had not made in nearly a decade...! Miguel Cotto 145..! They tried to make Shane Mosley come in at 142.."and they....**** it when he said yeh"..! Floyd Mayweather will be Pacman with the steriods or not..!
Ah, well now we're (finally) getting down to it. He could have fought Williams, Margarito, Cotto, Mosley Instead he fought Baldomir, De La Hoya, Hatton, Marquez Trotter, its not about excuses, its about putting things into perspective, or at least trying to, for the detractors that try to make out Mayweather is ducking the top fighters at welter. Because I simply don't think that's true and it's really the only thing that people can criticise him for, in pure boxing terms, to diminish his achievements. I completely agree about Cotto, I was gutted he didn't take that fight before he retired and had thought it would happen after Marquez until Pac stepped in. But other than that, I don't see how the other guys better who he's actually fought. Certainly in terms of money or p4p status they don't. They'd only better his 'standing' in the welter division. It doesn't take much to see he earnt far far more from the fights he took than he would've from the fights he could've took. And which list in p4p terms looks better? It's about QUALITY of fighters not just SIZE. The guys he's fought have been in with the top fighters in multiple divisions and won titles in multiple divisions. Cotto, Margarito & Williams have not. You can talk spin but you're as guilty as I.
I just want to see him in fights that aren't loaded in his favour, that's all. The comparison you made between his oppo and those he didn't fight... which are the harder fights? The ones he didn't take.
Yo man. I love Floyd. He IS boxing. He just plays the bad boy role because he realised that with his style he'd never get the PPV numbers by being the nice guy so he's gone down the whole love to hate me route. But how would the syles mesh if he met Pacquiao ring centre? I'd like to think Floyd would school Manny, but then I'm not sure... Who could be? That's what makes this fight essential in my eyes, but I still go for Floyd - probably by decision.
Isn't all this new found, born again, Mayweather love a bit bandwagon esc. Having said that a lot of people hate him too.
