If you listen to Floyd when he talks about Pac he always says that "He has been beat before, he has been KO before" demeaning Pac because he has some losses in his record which to me, it tells me that HIS record is important to him and the fact that no one has beat him is something for him to be proud of and he doesn't want to loose that.

wen floyd said pac has been beat its saying that there is a blueprint for beating him as for floyd having the "0" one cant go to videos to try n see how 2 beat him because floyd knows how to adjust.

First of all, Floyd wouldn't go for it, and I think it was plain to see that the Cotto fight would have been the same even if they had fought at 147. Freddie Roach chose the catch weight with Cotto to be on the safe side, most likely, and I'm pretty sure that by now, he is confident enough to let Manny fight someone at 147.

Sure, PBF dominated JMM, who has Pac's number, but as the old adage says...styles makes fights. Mayweather has struggled against high volume punchers, just watch the first Castillo fight, the first half of the De La Hoya fight, and believe it or not - certain parts of the Hatton fight. Mayweather got popped a few times in all three of those fights, and neither one of them is as fast and accurate as Pacquiao.

Mayweather is just too defensively gifted. Manny will land some shots, but not as cleanly as he did against De La Hoya, Hatton, and Cotto. I don't even see Pac knocking Floyd down -or out - but he could apply pressure like Oscar did, but unlike Oscar, his punches will be faster, and he won't wilt in the second half of the fight.

As a black man, I must say, I see no credibility in the "Pacquiao ducks black fighters" theory. Pacquiao hesitated in talking about Mayweather after the Cotto fight, because for one, that isn't his nature to call anyone out, (by the way, at this point, he shouldn't have to) and second, boxing politics may have played a roll in him not saying much. There is way too much on the line for him to call Floyd out right after such a bruising battle.

It's not the fear of getting beat up that has Mayweather scared, it's the fear of losing his beloved "0". That fear is why we haven't seen Mayweather fight the likes of Shane Mosley and Paul Williams, and before November 14th, 2009, I think it might have been safe to throw Cotto's name in there. Mayweather's reasons for not fighting certain guys are at times...aggravating, to say the least. If you he thinks someone like Carlos Baldomir was worth fighting, then why the hell wouldn't Shane Mosley be? Mayweather has said that if Pac wants to fight him, Pac should say so. Well, Mayweather is smart. He knows Pacquiao isn't the type of guy to call someone out. Not blatantly, anyway. Pacquiao did admit he wants to fight Floyd, but knowing Floyd, he'll say something like..."Pacquiao needs to say it to my face!"

Mayweather and JMM (only because he has Pac's number) are the only two guys who deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Pacquiao right now. Of course, JMM wouldn't get or deserve a 50-50 split, but Mayweather most definitely does. Both guys are in their primes, this is the fight everyone wants to see, and neither fighter is more popular than the other. I don't think. Pacquiao may have the edge because he has an entire country behind him. But either way, to say one guy deserves more than the other is ridiculous.

Floyd's a complex guy. He's very strong willed and strategic in everything he says. Floyd is bringing up the loses as evidence to why he should get a bigger cut of the purse. He's also doing it to see if he can get under Pac's skin.

But Gandul has a really good point. If you look past Floyd's posturing and strategic maneuvering and focus on his obsessions, it comes down to PPV numbers, money and keeping that "0" in tact. So in a sense, he is scared. Or let's call it "risk averse." Or boring.

you can say what you want if he was scared he would of stayed retired and since he still has that "0" like he said all roads still lead to him thats why wen you see who is floyd gonna fight next you get a list of 10+ fighters but aye everybody is entitled to there own opinion and i cant wait til they fight cause boxing fans are going to be in for a big surprise.

Good post, but points 2, 3 and 7 are a bit contradictory.

With so much "history" at stake, both fighters would be "scared" of a loss to the other just as much as each other.

Neither fighter would be scared of the other in general, though.

It's a bit inconsistent to have Pac not being afraid of Mayweather at all and Mayweather being (even just slightly) afraid of Pac.

You guys are getting hung up on the word "scared." These aren't two kids in the school yard. Neither is frightened of the other.

But Floyd is the more "careful" of the two. That's for sure.

I don't think Pacquiao is scared to lose. He probably wouldn't have fought Cotto if he was, because on paper, he had a very good chance to lose that fight. Mayweather is the one who puts so much stock in being undefeated, and why he always brings up others guy's loses. Like I said, Mayweather isn't scared of getting beat up, he just doesn't want to lose that un-blemished record, which is something Pacquiao could very well do.
