"the first round is reminiscent of halgler & hears"

    FOTY?

I think people were just so shocked with the fact that pacman kicked cotto's ass so damn badly that people got carried away. The only thing that was really crazy to me was the 20 seconds of the 4th round when pacman went rope a dope on cotto. The rest played out how I pretty much thought it would.

jmm vs diaz & berto vs collazo were more enjoyable to me, more peaks and valleys.

    what do you guys think?

I agree. Overall, I thought it was an excellent fight, but not a GREAT fight.

Had the whole thing been like the first 3-4 rounds, with more peaks and valleys (like you said), I think it would have been a great fight and definitely FOTY.

That said, at this specific moment, I can't think which fight would be my personal nomination for FOTY.

I thought you were picking Cotto to dismantle Pacquiao.

I wouldn't say the first round is Hagler/Hearns or any close to it. Hagler and Hearns just came out within the first second throwing power shots trying to knock each other out till the round was over. The first round of this fight was a typical "feel your opponent" round, the last few seconds had a few good exchanges but nothing more. If what he means is that it made the fight look like it will be dangerous for BOTH guys then I agree, watching the first I thought Pac is going to lose this.

i hear what you are saying. but i'll tell you this, i didnt sit down the entire fight. maybe it was the magnitude of the fight and the atmosphere surrounding it or the anticipation...but i couldnt sit down.

Agree. It was a very fun fight to watch for a real boxing fan but not one to re-watch 20 times just for the sake of it..

The first 5 rounds were very good, after that it gets too one sided. Not a bad fight by any means but certainly no classic.

That's how it is and when the result is the opposite then the fight was no big deal anyway and "everyone" saw that result coming. If they're right though then it's "I told you so", "Pacman is a fraud", "Pac was nothing special anyway" and "Pacman is scared to death from Valero and Margarito".

The knockdown in round 4 is what made things one-sided. That's when Cotto knew he can't handle the power and speed so he had to be defensive and think twice before attacking.

That knockdown took A LOT out of him, I'm still shocked of how he got up from it.

Decent fight til the 4th. After that it wasn't great.

Good fight, but no where near FOTY.

the first part of the fight was gripping stuff but Pac was just too much and took over.

It was on the verge of being something great but (sad to say) Pac just had too much for Cotto on that night
