I think its worthy for FOTY. I think the way Cotto ran the last 4 rounds took away from the fight but had it ended in round 9 or even 8 I think people would definitly consider it FOTY worthy. JMM vs Diaz is the front runner for me. Berto Collazo was on level of PAC vs Cotto in my opinion.

Yes the fight was on sided after that second knock dowm but it was a good fight. No Castillo vs Corrales thats for sure. But It was still a good fight.

The first four rounds were excellent. Cotto certainly took the first, and though Pac outgunned him in the second, Cotto did good work in the third, and rebounded well enough from the flash kd for me to make it 10-9. Plus, he was dominating the fourth up until the second kd. Gripping stuff, really.

Having stated that, it wasn't quite the fight of the year because it wasn't as evenly contested for the next seven or so rounds. Cotto had his moments, and on my card actually took one of the later rounds, but by and large Pac dominated from the fifth and sixth rounds on, and gradually busted his rival up.

    Still a fun fight.

It could be over rated by some and under rated by others

    feel out round 1...np.
great fight from round 2 to round 6.
    then the running started.
by end of round 7 the fight was over.

what did lampley say in the soto-foreman fight? "a stoppage would do a lot for the entertainment value [of this fight]"

Pac-Cotto had some rounds of the year

but there are still a handful of fights this year that were more exciting, i like cordova/dunne and Collazo/Berto more.

Berto vs Collazo was terrible. I thought Berto was a better fighter than that. If anything, that fight was an incredibly dissapointing performance from Berto.

It was a good fight for the first four or so rounds, but had it been an undercard fight between two mid-level contenders not named Cotto and Pacquiao no one would be talking about FOTY or even ROTY candidacy.

There was basically no dramatic tension whatsoever once it was clear that Pac could do whatever he wanted and Cotto didn't have the power to KO him with a lucky punch. And that point came way too early in the fight.
