Pointless. People would say that Pacquiao made Cotto popular and that the bigger numbers are a result thereof. Even though, of course, Pacquiao fought Oscar and Hatton AFTER Floyd and yet came up with worse numbers. Bleh, it's all been said before. 50/50 and lets see this megafight.
These PPV prices are getting ridiculous, I ended up paying $75 for Pacquiao\Cotto in HD, 65 plus 10 in fees\taxes.
Bottom line, do you think Floyd would have done 1.25 fighting Cotto instead of Marquez. I think he would have, it was a better opponent. Marquez has never been a huge draw in the past, he was 4th off the bench behind Morales, Barrera, and Oscar. edit to add: I think Floyd would have pulled 1.25 fighting Cotto.
We were in a recession when Floyd pulled 1 mil fighting a lightweight in a tune up. The recession excuse is bull****. Relatively low cost entertainment spending is the least likely thing to dip during a recession as people cut out large discretionary spending items like vacations, new cars, etc, and spend that money instead of things like movies, video games, and, yes, television. That fifty bucks, split over a couple of people is a lot less than a night of going out and drinking and partying.

Seriously... all this talk about who's the bigger draw is a waste of time. 50/50 at 147, no catchweights. LET'S GET IT ON! Would everyone here agree if either of the two backs out because he demainds a bigger share or demands a catchweight, that person was really scared to fight in the first place.
I think you're right- Floyd-Cotto probably would've pulled 1.25. Still, it must be taken into account that Floyd picked Marquez at that weight. Nobody made him take that fight, and in that respect, he set himself up for being outsold and gave Arum a little more leverage in negotiations.
Floyd's the bigger draw, but I'm not politicing that Floyd deserves more because of how bad the fans want it.
Speaking strictly from a business perspective, the numbers pac generated from the fight with Cotto do not give him the upper hand in negociations with Floyd. Taking all feeling and emotion out, the best Pac can ask for is 50/50.
